hummingwolf: Drawing of a creature that is part-wolf, part-hummingbird. (Hummingwolf by Dandelion)
So, when last you online folks heard of me last week, I was coming down with a cold. It happens. There were two days when I didn't leave the house because I was trying to rest enough for my immune system to do its work: one day of extreme tiredness, and one day with more energy but more dizziness, coughing, and congestion.

Thursday: A beautiful Autumn day full of brightly-colored trees, falling leaves, and blooming crocuses (crocuses?). I was still tired & congested, but went to the library for a couple of hours and happily read some magazines there. After that, I went to the farmers' market, where I was planning to buy ingredients for the chicken soup I still felt I needed. When I first arrived, some friendly vendors asked me, "Aren't you cold?" I wasn't, not at all--not with seventy-degree temperatures and a pleasant October breeze. I wandered round the place chatting with people, listening to other conversations, and eventually decided to eat some curried chicken for my (late) lunch. And after a while, the temperature seriously began to drop, and I began to wish that I had brought a jacket after all. Still, it was yet another enjoyable day at the market, and I did bring home some things I would need if I wanted to make chicken soup the next day.

Friday: Went out briefly to acquire chocolate. Spent rest of day resting. Also enjoyed watching WALL-E, the film where Pixar tackles environmental catastrophe and makes it adorable.

Saturday & Sunday: Much sleeping, though I did get out to walk a little bit. Still coughing, though breathing had gotten significantly easier. In spite of great difficulty with the whole concentration thing, finished reading Dexter Palmer's novel The Dream of Perpetual Motion.

Monday: First of all, I'm a wee bit irritable at the moment because after a week of being a low-energy, slow-moving lifeform, I had to get up early (for me) in order to go out and do some necessary things this morning, and someone who should know better was literally, physically in my way when I was just trying to get out of here. Bah.

Anyway, I did get some necessary things done this morning, walked a couple of miles, got home before the rain began, and haven't done much of anything at all since lunch except make one phone call I'll probably need to make again tomorrow. I feel terribly off-kilter. Breathing is pretty much okay, though.

For the record, I still haven't made any chicken soup.
