a ball of yarn in this glittering world
Monday, October 18th, 2010 09:03 pmSo, yesterday (Sunday) was a beautiful day, with warm, sunny, dry weather. And, wonderfully enough, I had enough energy to go outside and enjoy it. I decided to go down to DC's Eastern Market to wander around, do whatever the open-air equivalent of window shopping is. This might not have been the best idea, since I had a slight headache to begin with and it seemed that sun was shining in my eyes no matter which direction I turned (possibly because I kept looking at jewelry and other shiny objects). Still I had fun walking around amongst the sparkly things on a lovely fall day. At one point I was the bearer of bad news for someone, but as nobody shot the messenger I considered my visit to the market a success.
After the market's official closing time, I wandered around the neighborhood a bit more. A used bookstore had many hand-lettered signs indicating the proprietor's--or someone's--opinions of individual books or whole categories of books. A few college kids were blocking the cramped walkways, standing around taking pictures of signs with their cell phone cameras, but I didn't blame them. I cannot, unfortunately, remember many of the signs, though I do seem to recall that Left Behind was captioned "In case of 'Rapture' this book will be unread."
On Metro rides both to and from the market, I loved looking at the fall colors. Autumn is here! It's really here! Ahem. Anyway, after getting off the subway, I realized I had some serious carb cravings, so I bought two candy bars on the way home. At home, ate both candy bars as well as the last of some cheese bread, figuring my body was trying to tell me something. Overall it was a good day, even with the growing headache.

In dreams, a rather attractive man who was flirting with me seriously underestimated my sensitivity to pain. I woke up with my right hand still hurting.
~~~
As today went on, the combination of congestion, sniffling, and tiredness strongly suggested that the housemate next door had given me her cold. So today I went to the library to check out enough books & videos to keep me entertained a while, then went to the store for Mucinex and orange juice. I'm hoping that if I rest at home for the next couple of days, I'll be well enough on Thursday to go to my favorite farmers' market. Am not planning to push myself too much, though.
~~~
Been a bit upset lately by the accumulated floaters in my eyes. Doctors like to tell you that you'll stop noticing them eventually, but my floaters seem to be getting harder and harder to ignore. I am not well pleased.
I should probably go to bed soon. Have a good [relevant time of day], everyone!
