Darn that beautiful weather!
Saturday, September 6th, 2003 10:42 pmFor the last two days we've had sparkling sunshine interrupted by the occasional cloud to make things interesting, with comfortable temperatures. Yesterday I went to the bus stop to go grocery shopping, but the breeze in my hair, the songs of the birds and cicadas and crickets, the scents of fresh earth and mown grass, it all tempted me to go walking the mile & a quarter to the store. With me still being exhausted, this was not the best of all possible ideas, but at least I had sense enough to take the bus back home.
Today, another gorgeous day, I went to the library and read for a little while. As I left, somehow I ended up wandering in a neighborhood I've never walked in before. I may be under the weather, but I had to go walking in it anyway. And have I mentioned lately how great this neighborhood is for those of us who like being pedestrians? Always interesting houses, gardens, and trees to look at; and thanks to the street layout, it's impossible to get lost. Oh sure, it's possible to wind up someplace you didn't intend to go, but you'll always find your way as long as you're paying attention.
So yeah, darn that beautiful weather, tempting poor innocent me to use up energy I still don't really have.
(When I was little, I was one of those sedentary kids who stayed indoors watching cartoons and old sitcom reruns all the time. Silly kid.)
In other news, I finally made brownies. Mmmmm... brownies.
