damn it

One of my earliest friends on LiveJournal, Nalidoll, died yesterday.

In one of her last posts, she said, "This year is for me." I don't think this is what she had in mind.

Yeah. Even when I hadn't been communicating with her much, she always felt like a constant presence in the world. And now she isn't. It feels Deeply Wrong.

And to me as well, even when I should have known better than to take her presence for granted because even though all individuals eventually make their exit, she was unlikely to have a long life.

I had actually been wanting to log back in over here and start catching up (this winter has been full of pointed, poignant, lessons)... and before I made the change from potential to kinetic energy regarding it, I got the news from Ri.

More lessons in that, I'm sure.

For one thing, I'm back over here where people can actually take a breath, have a conversation, and step back from the clickybox/tickybox/internet argument machine a bit.

She didn't comment here as much in recent years, but you probably saw her around my journal back when you first began reading me. She'll be missed by many.

We hadn't commented on each other's journals much in the last few years, mostly because I haven't been on LiveJournal as much as I used to be. She was probably the third person I added to my friends list when I joined LJ; I know she was the first person I added who I didn't already know from someplace else online. It was late January 2002, about when she was trying to figure out how to get back to Texas.
