Insert moaning here

I was fairly cheerful, thinking that the migraine was finally easing up on me yesterday. But apparently it decided today that it was going too easy on me, and it has been attacking my head with a sledgehammer for the last few hours. While I'm avoiding bright lights, closing my eyes doesn't help. I'm hoping that the traditional migraine nausea doesn't kick in too much, because I'm really hungry and shaky at the moment. I'm also alternating between sitting upright and curling into a groaning ball of pain. This is not a fun day.

Since I didn't have any tea this morning, I'm wondering if I'm having caffeine withdrawal on top of the migraine. Am eating pasta & drinking tea now in hopes that something will help. I never used to suffer caffeine withdrawal, but I've been drinking more tea lately than I used to, so addiction isn't out of the question. I love tea, but if this is what addiction is like, I want no parts of it. Though i'm pretty sure that when you're having a migraine anyway, it isn't a good time to quit cold turkey.

Interesting weather here. The high temperature so far has been somewhere in the mid-to-upper 70s, but the warm front is being chased by an angry cold front which will give us temps in the 40s tomorrow. I wish I were up to going for a walk in the wind.

How miserable! I hope you'll feel better soon.

I don't know if it was the food or the tea, but I do feel a little better now. Still not a happy camper, but I'm noticeably less miserable.

Caffeine has been known to take the edge off of a migraine. When that doesn't work, I don't know what you're supposed to do about it. I also don't know if any of this applies to someone with a caffeine addiction.

And yeah, caffeine withdrawal can be pretty bad. For me it was. That's why I refuse to drink it every day. Though it's hard to guess how much of your suffering is due to withdrawal. Even mine wasn't horribly brutal, and I'm more prone than most to having unpleasant biochemical readjustments.

Yeah, caffeine also helps enhance the effects of OTC pain medicines. It's a very useful drug, and not just for its affects on alertness.

I honestly don't know if caffeine withdrawal is part of the problem or not. All I know for sure is that I felt noticeably better after a cup of tea and a largish lunch. The headache is still very much with me, but not reducing me to tears and moans like it was earlier. Here's hoping I feel very much better tomorrow.

When I don't have my coffee I go through some nasty withdrawal symptoms, but never to the point of curling into a ball of pain. My mother also suffers from migraines and she says too much caffeine can bring on a migraine. So she drinks 1 cup of light coffee a day (has half the caffeine I think). But regular tea probably has as much caffeine as light coffee anyhow. Well, depending on which type of tea I guess. I also heard that dunking your hands in hot water and then cold water sometimes helps.

Anyway I hope the mean migraine goes away soon!!

Lots of different foods can be migraine triggers for different people. Some people say that big triggers are red wine, aged cheese, and chocolate(!). Fortunately, chocolate has never been a problem for me. :-)

I don't know if what I felt today was withdrawal or not. I think I'll stick with having just 1 cup of tea each day for a while anyway. We'll see what happens.

Three of my favorite things.

Fortunately, chocolate has never been a problem for me.

Thank goodness!! That would really be cause for moaning and crying if you couldn't have chocolate!

That's a good idea. :-)

I'm just grateful I didn't inherit my mother's migraines. I remember when I was a child and I'd be in the car with her, she would have to pull over for a while because a migraine would start. She gets the visual disturbances, so that can make driving pretty dangerous.
