Wheeee!

More snow! Not that it's snowing now, not really--but it snowed enough inches last night to make it a classic winter wonderland without making it impossible to go anywhere. And so I'm listening to Christmas music on Launchcast and after hearing the Waitresses doing "Christmas Wrapping" I almost feel ready for the holiday. Of course I'll probably be sick of holiday tunes by the time Dec. 25 rolls around and will go around singing Greg Lake's "Humbug" if anyone so much as hints at holiday cheer, but for now I'm not complaining. Nope, I'm looking out the window and watching a few stubborn leaves clinging to a tree outside while the breeze sometimes blows snow around in explosions of glitter and sometimes sends snow to the ground in big lumps. This is a good time for staring out windows, listening to music, and sipping hot tea.

(For those who care: Made more phone calls yesterday, spoke to lots of voice mail boxes, got notification in the mail that social services wants a piece of information they've never even asked for before, and found out a new person at the law firm is working on my Social Security case.)

Love the icon, sweetie. I'm glad you're enjoying the snow.

I know you have to go through lots of bureaucratic nonsense. Are you OK, or do their delays really screw you up?

Glad you like the icon! Of course I'll be changing it again in a couple of days--the same snowflakes can't stick around forever this far south. :-)

As for the delays: I don't know if I'd describe myself as OK or not right now. Won't be starving any time soon--got plenty of food left, though I am sick of mushy canned food and would love to have something that crunches for a change (maybe I can munch on raw pasta and minced onion or something). But I'm still worried about the medical stuff, and of course am getting further and further into debt with my landlord. Argh!

So how're you doing, Meggy?

That sucks about the food, sweetie. FWIW I'm on a bizarre restricted diet (for health and possibly fertility reasons) and I miss bread, chocolate, pasta (I can have corn pasta but it's not the same, and I can't have any sauce on it), peanut butter, chips, lollies..........

I'm glad you're not starving. But damn, I hate that you have to rely on others like this. It sure as hell ain't your fault that you're getting behind with the landlord. I hope you get some decent medical people who give you decent responses soon.

I'm OK, thank you. Diet sucks. Finances not in good shape, but what can you do? We're not gonna be on the street any time soon, which is something to be thankful for.

Jeepers. Okay, I can live without bread and pasta easily enough (the main reason I eat so much macaroni & cheese is that I crave the cheese!), but life without chocolate! What kind of foods are you having to restrict overall? Are you going gluten-free and processed sugar-free or something like that?

I'm OK, thank you.

That's good to know!

Diet sucks.

Bah. Restrictions are never fun, particularly when they're restrictions on food.

Finances not in good shape, but what can you do? We're not gonna be on the street any time soon, which is something to be thankful for.

::hugs to Meg:: Take care of yourself, my friend.

I can't eat wheat, yeast, sugar (any sort, including fruit sugar, milk sugar, etc.), salt, and a couple other more minor things that I can't remember. ::g::

I can have tiny little amounts of sugar in things, but not if it's added. So soy milk with no *added* sugar is OK. Soy milk with sugar, even if it's low-fat and low kilojoule, is not. I can't put salt or sauce (ketchup) on anything. I can put garlic on, but then I'm stinky as well as farty!!

I've been having one soft drink a day, as she told me to cut out soft drink if possible but otherwise to cut down. So that's my treat, and dammmmmn the sugar is gooooood. I've been naughty and put tiny amounts of garlic *salt* on my corn pasta a couple times, but I really shouldn't.

::hugs CB:: You too, sweetie. I'm so sorry you have to go through your shit.

Seems like so much durned run-around for that stuff! Good luck with it all!!

And man, you make the snow sound so nice and homey :) Sounds like a grand time you are having ....

Thanks for the good luck wishes! It is an awful lot of run-around for this stuff, and I have yet to get a good explanation of why I didn't get benefits back weeks ago. Grrr.

The snow's still looking pretty out there, even though some of it's gone, what's left is glowing with a sort of golden color in the morning sunlight, and there's this pale blue sky above without a cloud that eye can see. Can't tell that I'm a fan of winter, can you?
