My room's been getting so cold recently that I have to turn on the space heater so the computer fan can work well enough to cool down the computer. Is it just me, or is this a very silly state of affairs?

In other news, after calling person A (the person Caseworker Number 1 said I should call in order to find out what's going on with my case) and leaving a message, then calling person B (someone who the operator at Social Services said might be able to help me), I figured that since nobody I spoke with would be responsible for helping me anyway (it's the magic of bureaucracy, folks), I may as well call person C, whose name I didn't quite catch but whose phone number was mentioned on someone else's voice mail message. True to the irrational nature of bureaucracy, it was the random phone call which seems to have gotten things moving again. With any luck, I'll have benefits back by the end of the week (of course, I've heard that before).

Naturally, couldn't get benefits back in time for this week's doctor's appointments. Eh, I'm not in as much pain at the moment as I could be. Here's hoping I'll be able to get new appointments before Christmas.

I had more to say, but my brain is freezing now. So I'll just say I hope that everyone out there has a good night except for those of you in parts of the world where it's more appropriate to wish you a good day.

I hate Soc Welfare. They're not exactly nice and understanding people. :(

I think some of them started out as nice and understanding people, truly; but some of them are overworked and others are the kind of person you'll find anywhere, the kind who doesn't want to do work of any kind, so the overworked people get old and bitter before their time. Anyway, I'm trying to learn how to be the squeaky wheel who gets the grease--or at least the bold client who bugs people until there are some results--but I'm not very good at it yet.
