(no subject)

My room's been getting so cold recently that I have to turn on the space heater so the computer fan can work well enough to cool down the computer. Is it just me, or is this a very silly state of affairs?

In other news, after calling person A (the person Caseworker Number 1 said I should call in order to find out what's going on with my case) and leaving a message, then calling person B (someone who the operator at Social Services said might be able to help me), I figured that since nobody I spoke with would be responsible for helping me anyway (it's the magic of bureaucracy, folks), I may as well call person C, whose name I didn't quite catch but whose phone number was mentioned on someone else's voice mail message. True to the irrational nature of bureaucracy, it was the random phone call which seems to have gotten things moving again. With any luck, I'll have benefits back by the end of the week (of course, I've heard that before).

Naturally, couldn't get benefits back in time for this week's doctor's appointments. Eh, I'm not in as much pain at the moment as I could be. Here's hoping I'll be able to get new appointments before Christmas.

I had more to say, but my brain is freezing now. So I'll just say I hope that everyone out there has a good night except for those of you in parts of the world where it's more appropriate to wish you a good day.

Given the heat that most CPUs give out, I can't see why it doesn't "defrost" itself fairly quickly.

I really don't understand it either, but when my room gets cold, the fan can make some truly horrendous noises even if the machine's been running for a while. So I try to keep the room toasty warm when I'm working or playing on the computer and that seems to keep things quieter. It'll probably be a good idea for me to buy a new fan one of these years, though.

Oh, hell, hon, I hate that you have to go through all this.

Maybe you should find out these losers' home addresses and go camp on their doorsteps.

On a different note, [livejournal.com profile] senoritafish likes my fractal icon. ::g:: I said that if she wanted, I would ask you if you might be able to make one for her? She is very impressed with your talents and said "Yes, please!"

So, would that be OK? If you're too busy/tired/whatever that's fine, of course.

Brownies!!! Yay! Thanks you, Meg.

I hate that I have to go through all this too. Though I'm not sure camping out on anyone's doorstep would be a good idea--these are people who get home after dark, and it's getting cold at night lately.

Iconses! Do you realize I've only got seven icons of my own so far? Isn't it time for me to make more icons for meeee? Heh. I am willing to make an icon for your friend, but it could be a while. As for the fractals: Frankly, I'm impressed by your fractal icon. I really think that's the niftiest fractal I've ever made. Even though I made those pics for you, I ended up sending 'em to a bunch of other people just to show off. ;-) So please let your friend know that whatever I come up with probably won't look like that one. Here are some fractals I've made that people are using, to give some idea of what's more "normal":

Also, there's a purple fractal amongst the icons at http://www.greatestjournal.com/allpics.bml?user=bearybipolar

Anyway, if she still wants a fractal, I'd like to know what colors she likes & which of the fractals I've done already she likes best so I have some idea of what to work toward.

Oh, and I'm glad yet another person likes that fractal! :-)

Thank you so much, sweetie. And of course she likes it; she has taste!!!

I'll cut & paste part of your comment above so she can look at the other things you've done. But please remember that if you can't do it, that's fine!!!! No worries.

Are there any fannish icons you would like? I am quite good at low-tech stuff like finding pics on the Net, cropping & re-sizing, and adding text. Making my own from scratch or adding effects to pics are beyond me as I'm only using MS Paint!!! But I enjoy what I can do, so if there are any quotes or actors or characters you would like, please please please tell me and I'll see what I can do (absolutely no obligation to use anything I make!!).

I hate Soc Welfare. They're not exactly nice and understanding people. :(

I think some of them started out as nice and understanding people, truly; but some of them are overworked and others are the kind of person you'll find anywhere, the kind who doesn't want to do work of any kind, so the overworked people get old and bitter before their time. Anyway, I'm trying to learn how to be the squeaky wheel who gets the grease--or at least the bold client who bugs people until there are some results--but I'm not very good at it yet.

Wow, you did a lot yesterday on the phone. I'm impressed.

I'll be happy if they give you back the benefits. I'll be really happy if you can get a doctor to help you after that.

Yeah, what you said.

Thanks, Un!
