hummingwolf: squiggly symbol floating over rippling water (Kaleidoscope (purple & white))

(no subject)

Why is it that I regularly put a mug of water in the microwave, come back upstairs to lose myself in more LiveJournals, and find myself back downstairs just before the microwave begins beeping; yet my time sense is pathetic enough that I didn't get around to flipping my calendar page from October to November until this morning?

And why is it that hearing Kalinnikov on the radio makes me squee as if I hadn't heard this music in ages, when, not only can I listen to both of his symphonies on CD any time I like, but the first movement of this piece is one of the tunes most likely to be running through my head at any given moment anyway?

(looks up at Dilbert calendar that still says "October")

October is a great month, though. Gotta give it credit.

Eh. Last year my calendar got stuck on July until the following March. But it's a lifelong failing for me. Then again, being unable to sense the passage of time has its distinct advantages.

And sometimes certain things just make you squee. The Hummingbird song by Winterboy is one of my biggies, even though I've listened to it about 30 times this week and it's on our wedding CD too.

Well, the inability to sense the passage of time doesn't surprise me. I never used to have much time sense myself. What gets me is that these days I do have a great, if unconscious, sense of when my water's ready for a tea bag.

By the way, if you ever get a strong enough urge to send me that CD like you mentioned in one of your posts, I wouldn't mind. :-)

Oh, and I still mean to send you some fractal icons. I'll send you a few at once after I've played a little more, and you can tell me if you like any of 'em or want something entirely different (different is easy enough to do--this is not taking a long time because the fractals are all that time-consuming, but because I've been distracted by other Stuff recently).

You're in luck! I was going to burn you a new CD and attempt to make some sort of royalties deal with Winterboy, and secretly add "Superman on a Bender" from his other CD because it's really good but the rest of the songs are a little weak. But last night I stumbled on what is probably the last extra copy we have (it was on the stairs to the attic). So. I'll wrap it up for you when I get a chance, because otherwise you'll have to wait for me to get around to burning, which would probably not happen till February or so. And who knows what my calendar will say then.

(I wish I had teabag-timing... I keep opening the microwave to remove my lunch and discovering my tea from the day before had been inside the whole time.)

Fractal icons, yay! Yes, please. And hey, did you ever get to read my last Saga episode? I was all excited about it but it didn't seem to be the crowd pleaser I needed it to be. The moment is over now, I guess. I should move on.

CD! Yay!

I did read your last Saga episode, but I'm having trouble commenting on a lot of things lately. Which is weird, 'cos I do seem to be coming up with exactly one, good insightful comment per day, and then everything else is either a one-line thing or me babbling on and on like this. Um, I'll see if I can work on fractals today--I did play with 'em a little yesterday in between fighting with voice mail systems, but everything I came up with looked less than good when shrunk to icon size and I was getting to the point where everything looked the same anyway.

One-liners are good. Babbling is better (I mean, consider who you're talking to... I babble with the best of 'em). But phone calls are most important of all, so by all means continue using me as an occasional means of escape rather than a priority.

I was going to write you a letter to go along with the CD (and maybe print out another Minions cartoon) but if I package it up now without the extra things, and I have enough energy to swing by the post office while I'm out libraring, I can send it today.

Ooh. Which means I ought to get this nice warm cat off my lap and get stuff together and hit the road. *thunk* Ow.

there's something about hearing music you love spontaneously pop up on the radio that's special!

It's probably the same reason that when I find on my computer a picture of my cats that I scanned in so that I could have pictures of my cats here (even though I could go home and visit the real ones anytime I like), I have an immediate "Oh! Squee! Kitty!" reaction.
