Things for which I'm thankful
Thursday, February 17th, 2011 08:19 pm1. Warm, springlike weather. After the cold winter, and after some days of flu-induced chills, temperatures of about 70°F are wonderful indeed.
2. Finally having the energy to go outside and enjoy the warm, springlike weather while it lasts, although I almost certainly walked more than I should have this afternoon.
3. Public libraries full of books, even if the library computer did insist that one of the books I was trying to check out was not only a non-circulating item, it was a non-circulating item from a library branch I've never even visited. Oh well, I have six books and two CDs out now anyway, so I can't say I'm feeling terribly deprived.
4. Good canned food. Not having been to a grocery store since last Friday, I am deeply grateful for the home-canned food so generously given out of
hasufin and
stardansr's stores (and I sincerely hope their generosity does not reduce their ability to survive the zombie apocalypse!), as well as a tasty item or two bought from farmers' markets last year. This morning's breakfast of chili & peaches was particularly fortifying, as well as very tasty.
5. Mediocre canned food. A former housemate left behind some canned soups of the type that supplies more sodium than any human being needs to eat in a week; but after adding some potato, frozen peas, onion, ginger root, and black pepper, I'm finding that the tomato soup is a reasonable supper.
6. Potatoes, frozen peas, onion, ginger root, black pepper, and other things I can add to make commercial canned soups more palatable.
Not things, but I'm grateful for them anyway: Good friends!
