hummingwolf: squiggly symbol floating over rippling water (one)
Monday: According to the pedometer, I walked roughly 6.8 miles. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh when I called myself a lazy slug earlier. Most of the walking was done as I was doing errands around town, things like buying groceries (sensible things like olive oil, multi-grain bread, onions, cheese) and going to the bank and other stuff I've forgotten. Since none of it involved bureaucrats, none of it involved standing around doing nothing for very long.

Is it just me, or is it a sad thing when a grocery store clerk can't recognize a bag of walnuts from the bulk foods section as a bag of walnuts? How does someone get to working age without knowing what a walnut looks like?

In the morning and for the first part of the afternoon, I sat around wasting too much time doing unedifying and not terribly entertaining things on the computer while calling myself a lazy slug.

Sunday: Ate too much. Did very little. Felt very much like a slug, slow-moving and repulsive. It's best not to dwell too much on Sunday.

Saturday: In spite of being tired, I went out to a little street fair where people gave me a free hot dog. Was amazed at the shade of green in the little relish packets. You don't get that color from pickling cucumbers; you get that color from pickling aliens. Before that, people told me about missionary work and gave me candy and pencils and AIDS awareness pins. There were apologies for the lack of chocolate, but the weather was too warm to keep those candies out in the sun without melting. Friday through Wednesday )
