hummingwolf: (two)
Disturbing abdominal discomfort shading to pain for the last nine or ten days. Missed a doctor appointment early in the week, rescheduled for earlyish (not as early as I'd like) next month. Too many appointments, too little energy. Anyway, I'll spare you all the TMI and just say I'd like to be feeling better very quickly, please.

Also not been able to use language very well this week, which is more than a little bit annoying. Not sure what's been going on there. Anyway...

Accomplishment of the Week: Finally got my state ID! Went to the Motor Vehicle Administration on Thursday afternoon, spent two hours waiting around and not reading anything for fear of missing it when they were ready to serve my number (gah!), then talked with the nice, competent-seeming clerk who I'd been hoping to get and had my picture taken for the card. The photo was an appropriate one for official MVA documents, which is to say that in it I look tired and somewhat deranged.

Nice Conversation of the Week: The one I had with a grocery store checkout clerk who told me he's always glad to see me in line because I'm always nice to him. Aww!

Annoying Conversation of the Week: Let's just say it involved relatives and leave it at that for now.

Books Finished This Week:
David Brin, The Postman
Pat Frank, Alas, Babylon
Ellen F. Davis, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Songs

What?

Food of the Week: This is a tie between Choceur's dark chocolate with hazelnuts (hooray for cheap chocolate!) and pluots. Mmm... lovely, lovely pluots.

Music of the Week: The Ark. [livejournal.com profile] kaukomieli is to blame for introducing me to some of their songs. :-)

Real-Life Amusement from Zombie Day: While I was out walking on Wednesday, I saw a man with a dazed expression lurching his way down the sidewalk--while wearing a "Bush-Cheney '04" T-shirt. When I saw him, he was walking past a Ben Cardin for Senate sign left over from last year's campaign, which led to questions about the percentage of residents of the District of Columbia and its suburbs who may, in fact, be zombies controlled by one or the other of the major political parties.

Scent of the Week: Also on Wednesday during the thunderstorms, the scent of freshly-broken tree branches and rain on dusty ground. Fortunately, the undead didn't seem particularly pungent.

Silly Quiz of the Moment: via [livejournal.com profile] helen99:
What Breed of Liberal Am I? )
Well, if I must be a liberal, that sounds about right. For curiosity's sake, I'd like to see some of the conservatives out there posting their results.

I thought there was more to say, but it's all slipped away from me.
