Indecisive
Thursday, May 18th, 2006 04:43 pmI was going to go to the nearest mall and attempt to buy some shoes today. First, I went for a walk to a nearer store and ended up getting myself a brownie (mmm), and I noticed that the weather was sunny and warm, with temperatures in the lower 70s. Came home, ate the brownie, started to fix lunch, and realized that half an hour after I'd last checked the thermometer, the temp. had gone down by more than 10 degrees and it was raining. Half an hour after that, the sun was out again and it was back up to 70. There was more rain later with a bit of cooling, and now the outside world is teasing me with warm sunshine.
One big reason why I need to get new shoes is that the current pair leaks. (There is also a non-leaky pair of hiking boots, but walking in them provokes blisters and severe knee pain.) So I'm terribly undecided about whether or not I want to risk walking to the mall on a day when the weather is also terribly undecided.
On the plus side, yesterday's unsettled weather meant that after I dragged myself out of the house to buy some toilet paper (oh my glamourous life!), as I walked out of the store thinking how I wished I'd had the energy to get out and hang out with people yesterday, my self-pity was interrupted by the sight of a rainbow. The rainbow was just bright enough that I could clearly see the violet band, and lingered long enough to significantly improve my mood.
