hummingwolf: squiggly symbol floating over rippling water (8 months)
Yes, this is Real astrology we're talking about here, not the (vastly superior) MegaHAL kind. Anyway, because some of you care very much:

Mercury is now retrograde. Repeat: Mercury is now retrograde. "Mercury, the planet of communication, short trips and details, appears to stop dead in its tracks on November 13 at 11 degrees of Sagittarius. The planet then turns backwards in its apparent path through the zodiac. It stops again on December 3, then turns to resume its direct motion at 24 degrees of Scorpio." What this means is that those of you who are so inclined may blame all miscommunications and travel-related snafus on the stars, not yourselves. For any problems you had before November 13, you'll have to find another excuse.

Also in astrological news: On November 15, Uranus will cease to be retrograde. That is, the planet Uranus will no longer seem to be going in reverse and will resume its customary forward motion relative to the Earth. What this means is that while Mercury retro may cause things to go awry, you no longer need to do everything ass-backwards.

hummingwolf: Part of a julia fractal in colors of fire and smoke. (Fire-flavored fractal)
This migraine I've had for the last few days has my permission to leave. Right now. It can even slam the door on its way out as long as it's GONE.

I broke a bowl over the weekend and a plate this afternoon, thanks to the migraine-induced coordination issues; and while I can't say that the loss of either dish was a great tragedy, being this dang uncoordinated is more than a minor nuisance. Also didn't walk anywhere in the daylight because of a touch of photophobia, but did take a walk this evening when I couldn't stand being cooped up a moment longer. This walk would have been nice enough, I suppose, if it weren't for the shadowy spots in the center of the field of vision in both eyes. Not being able to see the things right in front of you is a bit panic-inducing when you're trying your best not to get run over by cars. The headache itself hasn't been more than moderately painful, but I'm ready to be done with the whole Amazing Migraine Experience, y'know?

In other weekend news, I ate an entire bag of Holiday Mint M&Ms all by myself. This seemed to have no effect on the headache, but I'm willing to try the experiment again just to make sure.

Yesterday I had a disturbing dream. I wanted to write about it in the journal, but I couldn't think of a way to put the disturbance into words. The most disturbing part somehow is that most people would think it was a good dream about good things. Other people in the dream certainly thought so, except for the mere hint of sadness. In spite of the surface meaning, what the dream really seems to have been about was the tendency to let other people decide that something is good for you because it would be good for them if they were in your shoes, when all your instincts are screaming that no matter how it seems to other people, what you are about to do is going to eat you alive from the inside out. It can seem easier to give in when you have no arguments, only instincts.
