Important Astrological News

Yes, this is Real astrology we're talking about here, not the (vastly superior) MegaHAL kind. Anyway, because some of you care very much:

Mercury is now retrograde. Repeat: Mercury is now retrograde. "Mercury, the planet of communication, short trips and details, appears to stop dead in its tracks on November 13 at 11 degrees of Sagittarius. The planet then turns backwards in its apparent path through the zodiac. It stops again on December 3, then turns to resume its direct motion at 24 degrees of Scorpio." What this means is that those of you who are so inclined may blame all miscommunications and travel-related snafus on the stars, not yourselves. For any problems you had before November 13, you'll have to find another excuse.

Also in astrological news: On November 15, Uranus will cease to be retrograde. That is, the planet Uranus will no longer seem to be going in reverse and will resume its customary forward motion relative to the Earth. What this means is that while Mercury retro may cause things to go awry, you no longer need to do everything ass-backwards.

Uh-oh! What does this mean for Virgos? I shall use the icon of a fellow Virgo, Freddie Mercury, for this comment. Freddie even changed his last name to Mercury because of his sign. His real name was Farrouk Bulsara. ^_^

What does this mean for Virgos? It means you should be patient with yourself and others, communicate as clearly as you can, try to empathize with folks around you, and generally live life without worrying about what the non-Earth planets are up to. ;-)

Very good advice indeed. :-D

Why, thank you!

And here over in the astrology-free zone, this amateur astronomer just shrugs and says "Okay?" :-)

Hee! Yeah, I don't actually believe in astrology. I made the effort to teach myself a lot about it so I'd know exactly what it was that I'd been making fun of all those years, and I found that while I still didn't believe in it, I enjoyed the complexity of it. Nowadays I'm just a big fan of the metaphors.

My reason for writing this entry: the chance to make a really juvenile pun. :-)

[identity profile] coffeegrace.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I don't actually believe it myself either. But I also wouldn't say it's false, because what do I know? Even though I don't put faith in it, I do think it's very interesting. :-)

Sure, but it's no more likely to be right than basing predictions off something else might be...such as the stock market.

You know, with your utter disbelief im astrology, I think you would be the perfect choice to write a regular astrology column.

I wouldn't say I have an "utter disbelief" in it, so much as a healthy dose of skepticism. Still, a lack of belief might go a long way to helping me make the column interesting, eh? I'd have to re-learn a bunch in order to sound semi-convincing, but that could be fun.

Well, thank goodness I can stop all of that. It's been making me dizzy. :-)

Someone else was telling me earlier that she liked things better the other way. Now she wants to reverse the revolution. Ya just can't please everybody all the time, ya know? ;-)
