Explanation
Sunday, November 6th, 2005 08:56 amHave you ever had one of those days when you start out thinking you don't have the energy to get through the day but it turns out you're really full of unrealized oomph and all you have to do to tap your reserves is to just keep going and going? Thursday was not one of those days. Thursday was one of those days where I tranced out as I walked along, unable to stay fully alert for more than short bursts of time. I even took my glasses off as I was walking because focusing my eyes was such hard work.
Except maybe Thursday was one of those days after all--I kept walking. I walked much further than I had any right to expect, really. No, it wasn't one of my Longest Walks Ever, but it had to be somewhere around five miles, a perfectly respectable distance. Craving for sunlight and the color yellow, even with glasses off I was drawn along by the autumn scenery. Though my body was still angry enough with me that I had to walk along major roads in order to be within easy walking distance of a restroom at all times (um, maybe that's TMI?), I was unstoppable.
Except, no, Thursday wasn't one of those days when walking is such a splendid idea. I've been having major trouble sitting upright ever since. Friday I spent inside the house, mostly in bed, wiped out. I hope I can get myself out for a walk on this beautiful fall day, but I'm still pretty fatigued. Maybe more breakfast will help.
One nifty thing is that my brain radio finally got itself out of its '80s rut. Yes indeed, I had bits of West Side Story running through my head (especially "America"), finally interrupted on Friday night by the Candide overture. (Note to self: If/When you ever get enough money that you no longer need to worry so much about basic necessities, add some Leonard Bernstein to the music collection.) Yesterday Bernstein compositions were fighting Prokofiev pieces for dominance, which is a fun and distracting thing.
So anyway, I wore myself out and that's why I haven't been writing brilliant posts here the last couple of days. Oh, okay, that's why I haven't been spewing forth my usual links to science news stories.
