I knew the clothes weren't getting dried too well in the machine yesterday, but I didn't realize that the dryer was actually ruining things. One little article of clothing melted a bit. Two sweaters, formerly green and blue, have turned partially orange, probably as a result of contact with the melted thing.
It could be worse--the clothes I wear most often seem to be intact. But this still is not the best thing to wake up to in the morning.
In other news, I still have no other news. Spent most of yesterday indoors trying to rest enough to recover from the lingering infection. Decided that February 2 here is really Raccoon Day, as no groundhogs were to be seen. A raccoon was sunning himself on the neighbor's roof yesterday in the early afternoon, looking around at the melting snow and scratching or grooming himself. After a while, he went back under the eaves and slept like a good nocturnal animal again, leaving only a part of his fluffy, stripey tail sticking out to show that he was still there. A few Thoughts came out and displayed themselves to my conscious brain yesterday, showing themselves to me from different angles. They've gone back into their holes as well, though there's no reason to expect them to stay hidden through the winter. Unlike the groundhogs of legend, they weren't afraid of the shadows.
