Some if it was also found in a box at the back of the hall closet. More is suspected to be lurking in the lint trap in the clothes dryer.

Another way of phrasing that first bit could be "Young people better than their elders at ignoring the obvious." Though the researchers seemed to think that an age-related decline in visual processing was responsible for the older folks' better results.

Maybe the younger scientists should ask their grandparents for help figuring out where the missing matter is.
