Update for those who wondered

I'm still under the weather, but the weather is pretty nice. The day began with rain (and some poor surveyors outside doing their work in the damp and limited visibility), nice and soothing to start with. Later, the sun came out and shone sparkling on a freshly-washed world, accompanied by little puffy clouds and a few larger clouds who tried to look more menacing than they were. It was a great day for walking and I had no interest.

After taking in the mail (including a nice card and enclosures from a monster under a bed in New Jersey), did walk a few blocks so I could part with a few pennies in exchange for some sale-priced expectorant/decongestant syrup. Mmm... guaifenesin. There hasn't been all that much coughing yet, aside from a brief attack last night. Nevertheless, when the congestion is bad enough that people who aren't me can tell I'm having trouble breathing, it seems a good time to get some OTC drugs before collapsing once more at home.

So, mostly the day's been spent here reading, drinking lots of hot tea, watching semi-random syndicated TV shows, and thinking about the story idea I came up with yesterday. Haven't settled on any actual plot threads yet, but my mind is going in all sorts of different fun directions, speculating on what would happen if this, then that, then some wackiness ensuing... Honestly, I suspect the whole idea came to me just so I'd have some excuse to write something making use of both my bureaucratic miseries and the word "chiliastic." Whether the story ever gets written or not is something I wouldn't bet on either way. Especially since I'm currently close enough to a hypnagogic state that I keep seeing words and images on the page or screen which aren't objectively there (unless Frank the Goat really is trying to give me some information about unicorns).
