Rockin' Readin'
Saturday, July 3rd, 2004 03:50 pmI went out the front door to engage in my oh-so-glamourous tasks of the day (going out to buy soap and toilet paper), when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a package from Amazon.com with my name upon it! Wondering what could possibly be inside, I opened it up to find that my LJ-less friend Jenny had read some recent comments in my journal about not having my Douglas Adams books nearby. She sent me the Hitchhiker's Trilogy! All five books! Wheeeee! As she puts it in one of her notes on the order: "Re: Some much-needed sanity, courtesy of Douglas Adams (because 'sane' and 'Douglas Adams' just go together so well)." Brightens up my day considerably, I tell you. Jenny's so cool.
Speaking of coolness and reading matter, have you been looking for new things to read online? Are you by any chance interested in superheroes? Then go check out the groundbreaking, Writers Digest Grand Prize-winning, superhero-rific Cyber Age Adventures! Edited by the astonishingly hard-working Frank Fradella, Volume 2 Issue 5 is online now--and it's free!
Are you done with that and interested in how the other side lives? Oh, I'm not talking about supervillains--I'm talking about Minions! The comic book may not be out yet, but you can see nifty cartoon samples drawn by the same Dandelion who drew my hummingwolf icon everyone likes so much. Once you've whetted your appetite with those, you're sure to be interested in the alternate universe where Zephyr and Reginald, rather than being Minions for Hire, work as engineers creating custom living-assistance equipment for the disabled. For a fascinating (and yes, free!) look into the lives of some wonderfully complex characters, visit the Left-Handed Engineers from MARZ!
