The original plan for this week involved me going in to the school to work more on the database I created last week, to show relatively computer-illiterate people how to do new and useful things with said database, and to create another database. For this, I would get reimbursed for my transportation costs.

Well, I'm tired. Not just "I need a little more sleep" tired, but the kind of tired that only comes when you've got some illness, a flu perhaps, or perhaps your body fighting itself for some reason; some sort of war going on inside. Sometimes I can forget that chronic fatigue syndome diagnosis. This isn't one of those times.

So there's this little voice nagging at me telling me I should go in and do all those wonderful things I'd planned to do. That wasn't possible earlier in the week because of the fighting going on in my nerves and fibers, but I was a bit better today. Today I've finally got strength enough to argue with that voice, ask it why it thinks I should do this stuff.

Hmm, it says. It would look good on your resume, for one thing.

Guess what? I say. I don't care! I've got plenty of crap to put on a resume showing my history of doing good and useful work for free. The next thing I put on a resume needs to be something I get paid for. Considering how much I've done for someone who is supposed to be helping me find a paying job and has not, as far as I can tell, done anything helpful... well, I think it's time she either did something to earn her paycheck or left me in peace to work with someone who can help.

It's not that I mind being taken advantage of so much as that I simply can't afford it anymore.

Tired, not listless

The tunes most likely to run through my head at random moments for no apparent reason:

1. Hector Zazou with Anneli M. Drecker & Gérard Depardieu "I'll Strangle You"
2. Peter Himmelman "Climb"
3. the first movement of Vassili Kalinnikov's first symphony
4. Loreena McKennitt "The Mummer's Dance"
5. Ashford & Simpson "Count Your Blessings"

On the 23rd, [livejournal.com profile] penguinboi posted a list of five favorite smells. Here are the 5 I came up with:

1. Old trees after spring rain.
2. African tea roses.
3. Potatoes & onions fried in olive oil, with freshly-ground black pepper on top.
4. Sweet-smelling spices like cinnamon.
5. Fires with apple wood.

While bored last weekend, I kept writing out the first word that came to mind for each letter of the alphabet. I threw all my lists away, but [livejournal.com profile] jeweldevil, having the same idea yesterday morning, posted his. So I decided I should post some as well.

My first attempt at the alphabet list yesterday began with apple, banana, carrot, dark chocolate, eggplant, so I figured I should go eat something and try again later. Here's my list this evening:

arboreal, banana, clearance, dance, eagle, flight, garage, height, incense, jasper, kaleidoscope, lemon, mind, nine, open, paradise, queenly, righteous, solid, tungsten, universal, variegated, wobbly, x-ray, yellow, zoomorphic
