Unimportant random bits of Friday

I went to the nonpaying job today for the first time in a week. Met the brand-new owner of the school, which was interesting. Oddly enough, I never was introduced to the former head of the school, though I did see her in the halls now and then. Oh, I was supposed to join her and some others for a pizza lunch last fall... but for some strange reason, I just didn't feel like going into DC at all on the afternoon of Sept. 11. Silly me.

My week of solitude was a good idea--I felt energetic, refreshed, and able to cheerfully deal with at least one person I hadn't been getting along with very well. And I got to play with a former employee's computer for a while as I began rewriting the school's orientation manual, so I managed to be both productive and, well, entertained.

Though I got a haircut on Tuesday (first one since last June), today was the first day anyone I know got to see it. People at school told me it looked "gorgeous," which strikes me as bizarre as I thought the cut made me look distressingly plain. On the other hand, I may be wrong about that--maybe my stunning good looks are the reason why the guy at the pizza place gave me two slices for the price of one this evening. On the third paw, maybe this blouse I'm wearing is so much bigger than myself that he thought me a recovering anorexic who needed all the food she could get. Anyway you look at it, it was free food and it was good.

I may be too tired to be interesting tonight, but at least I'm cheerful.
