Ello

I haven't been online since sometime Tuesday--haven't even had the computer plugged in. Since the digital TV switchover, I have only watched the few low-powered stations still broadcasting in analog format, which might actually be informative if I remembered more Spanish. The only times I have listened to the radio have been when it was time to hear the traffic & weather report. My excursions out into the wilds have been brief forays to pick up needed supplies (and I'm low on chocolate again). So, my question for you lot is: Has anything interesting been happening in the world?

low on chocolate? red alert! sorry about the high-def thing. i didn't know anything was still analog. (not that i understand what that means, alas.) as for the world, it's always on the brink, y'know?

Well, all the major TV stations had to start broadcasting in digital (meaning that they can't be received on old-fashioned TV sets like mine) last Friday, but low-powered stations still get to send signals the older way. I do have a converter box that's supposed to let old TVs get the new signals, but the TV is old enough that I'd need to get two adapters to even use the converter box! I may end up getting a small newish TV instead if I can find one cheap enough.

Yeah, the world is always on the brink. I was expecting that.

Well, Iran's still in trouble... I've been following updates on Twitter, a forum, and a couple of blogs since Tuesday, and right now all the reports are confusing. It seems, however, that groups for today's rally are being broken up, but they're reforming elsewhere and possibly starting to push back the police. Oh, and there was possibly an explosion at Khomenei's tomb, which may or may not have been a suicide bomber - all the mainstream media can do now is follow the Iranian state TV's reports, so yeah.

Not surprised to hear Iran's still in turmoil. I wish the news were better there!
