Hummingwolf Today
Now wearing: Still warm (yet wearing out) faded blue nightgown, robe with giraffes on it, and boring underwear.
Now drinking: Celestial Seasonings' Mint Magic herbal tea.
Now feeling: Pain in neck, upper back, right wrist, and left ankle. At least there's no headache.
Last meal eaten: Little Korean fish cakes, yau choy with red onion & feta cheese, and entirely too many salty snack crackers with legumes.
Doctor visit of the day: Neurologist. Since I haven't passed out recently, she wants me to stay on the same dose of Keppra for a while, keep taking headache meds as necessary, and keep track of when I get migraines & seizure-type activity so we can talk all about it in two months time.
Aliens still in armpit? Yes. This is the time of year when it is much easier to get an appointment with a specialist than with a general practitioner.
Purchases of the day: Lots of food at the Korean supermarket--purple yam, purple potatoes, purple eggplant, very not-purple fish cakes, enoki mushrooms, hot peppers, legume-filled snack thingies, yau choy, hoji-cha, and possibly something else I'm forgetting. Oh yes, pomegranates were comparatively cheap there, which made me happy.
Overheard conversation of the day: The bus driver and some of the passengers were talking excitedly about last week's election results. Someone suggested that the people in the group who had voted for Obama had no idea who "that white guy" is who ran for the vice-presidential slot. That someone seemed to be correct, though one person carefully spelled out the name "B-E-L-E-N" which sounds like an unholy cross between Biden and Palin. The driver asked the little group, "So who's the Vice President in office now?" One guy said, "Isn't it still Al Gore?" For the record, this conversation took place while the bus was inside The Beltway. And somehow I managed not to burst out laughing.
Election-related paper I finally picked up: Well, of course things like The Washington Post were probably sold out before I got out of bed the day after Election Day, and magazines like Newsweek haven't been easy to find either. However, today I got a copy of the Archdiocese of Washington's free paper El Pregonero, which has a cover story entitled "Obama: ¡Sí podemos!"
Now reading: Re-reading Diana Wynne Jones' Fire and Hemlock. Last time at the library, I had intended to borrow something I'd never read before, but I accidentally picked this one up instead.
Last TV show watched: Well, House, M.D. is the last one I watched all the way through, but I did catch the beginning of Fringe as well. Turned Fringe off when I realized that I'd given up hope of seeing anyone hit their head on giant floating letters.
Artwork of the day: All those trees with three or four different colors of leaves on them. That deep red-gold-green combination wins the prize every autumn.
Musician of the day: Jeff Black. Not sure why his tunes have been taking over my brain all day, but they have. The only one of his albums I've got is Birmingham Road, but here's a video for a song from one of the others: "Same Old River" (live performance).
What I should do next: Get offline and go to sleep. So very tired.
