It's the day before a major Federal holiday and I called up a government office in order to change an appointment that they had originally scheduled for Monday, the first day after a three-day weekend. The person who answered the phone told me that someone else is in charge of doing the scheduling, but took my information and my phone number and said they would call me. I received a call back within five minutes and we arranged to meet at a different time. It was all quick, easy, and relatively painless.

How the heck did that happen?

Terribly sorry for the mistake. We'll make sure it won't happen again. In the future, all communications with the government will be sure to take at least 3 days for a response.

Actually, this was a person who I know has been working there for a while. Maybe it was some strange urge to get work done before the holiday weekend?
