i'm searching for victims in the household storms
Began the day feeling more than a little cranky thanks to a certain situation going on in real life. On the plus side, the situation should be over by the end of the month; on the minus side, the offline world may have some unpleasantness in store in the next nine days or so. Gah. The suspicion that you've been lied to by someone who doesn't give a damn is never pleasant.
For most of the day, the weather certainly wasn't helping my mood any--it was dull and grey and drippy. I was complaining to
daisydumont that the ambience was not quite right for curling up in bed and reading a book, yet all wrong for anything more active and cheery. As lovely as winter can be, this simply was not a lovely day... and then, as afternoon shaded into evening--as light rain continued to fall--golden sunshine came out from behind the clouds. Immediately I grabbed my coat and headed east. Rainbow! Looked up at a good, solid-seeming arc as long as it was visible, then headed back toward sunset and home.
Didn't walk much today. Too dizzy and tired. Did about half as much laundry as needs to be done. Read very little, but did listen to some BBC programmes. Talked a bit with various people (offline) for an hour or so. But I did get out to see a rainbow, so the day was far from a complete waste.

No Swiss cheese wedding gowns? Maybe you can substitute Jarlsberg...

the title of your post would make a great start to a poem. hope the situation resolves sooner than in 9 days.

Just after I'd posted to you yesterday whining about the weather, I realized that the sun was trying to come out. A few seconds later when I realized that the clouds hadn't stopped dripping was when I grabbed my coat and exited the house to see a rainbow for a bit. :-)
The title of the post comes from MegaHAL, of course. HAL is such a source of consolation to me.

Been pretty blech here as well...another storm rolled through and finally broke last night into some great rain, so hopefully I can stop being a zombie now.
Rainbow. Yay!
I was watching an old Noah and the Ark thing on Discovery or the History channel yesterday. Did you know with all my Catholic upbringing, it kind of shocked me when they brought up the symbolism of the rainbow? Funnily, it was in a schoolroom of kids...kidergarten or pre-school or something. It was one of those things 'cool things' you forget about as you grow up, and when you hear it again, you go, "Oh yeah, I remember that now!"
Ah, the magic of childhood....

Aren't rainbows nifty? Full of color and promise.
