Without spoiling the episode for anyone who might want to see it, I must say that tonight's episode of Supernatural was simultaneously twisted, gruesome, and sweet, which probably explains why it is the first thing this year to manage to get me into the Christmas spirit.

Why is it that once I started feeling Christmay tonight, I had to start listening to Sting's old album The Dream of the Blue Turtles? Songs from it were overplayed on the radio in summer 1985, I bought it in October that same year, and yet my brain decides it's holiday music. I do not understand. Perhaps there is some currently-forgotten association with a holiday party. That's probably it; Sting was the one artist my friends tended to agree was tolerable back in high school. Then there's also the fact that "Russians" steals a bit of melody from the same Prokofiev piece that Greg Lake's classic "I Believe in Father Christmas" steals from.

I've been very tired for the last few days and thus have not done much of anything. Sleeping feels nice. When I wake up, I feel like someone's been beating up on me as I've slept. Did manage to walk four miles one day--maybe it was yesterday? Might've been the day before. Certainly wasn't today, when I walked about half a mile and decided that was enough.

Plans for tomorrow: Take advantage of the mostly-sunny weather they're forecasting and do something (unless my body argues too strenuously). If nothing else, I should fortify the Christmas spirit by going out to buy some mint M&Ms. Can you believe I haven't had a single holiday mint M&M this year? It's tragic, it is.

Hey, I just remembered that it was yesterday that I walked 4 miles. Checked out some library books while I was at it, and have already finished one of them (no, I'm not telling you what it was). Guess I accomplished some slight something recently after all.

It does have some gruesome spots. The Christmas caroling, for instance. ::shudder::

Oh, I love that album! Was thinking of it just the other day, that I wanted to get it on CD. :) One of my first own records, it was. :)

One of the first albums I ever bought, after Nik Kershaw's Human Racing, Nik Kershaw's The Riddle, and Tears for Fears' Songs from the Big Chair. Bought the Sting album the same day as a-ha's Hunting High and Low. Good stuff, all of it. :-)

The SPN episode had me cringing and covering my eyes at points, and tearing up sensitively at others. Good work indeed!

I kinda wished there had been fewer cringe-inducing moments in there, but it was quite a good, Christmasy episode!
