Yay!

In the mail: A copy of Peter Himmelman's CD The Pigeons Couldn't Sleep with bonus Rock God DVD--signed with Peter's own scrawl! It's a nifty prize I'm quite happy to receive today. :-)

So, does anyone out there have any Peter Himmelman CDs or know who the heck I'm talking about? [livejournal.com profile] kenhighcountry seems the most likely suspect. Anyone else?

Not much chance to listen to it at the moment, though, since I'm hoping to convince myself to leave the house and Do Stuff. Technically, I've already left the house today--walked a whole half-mile, even--but I was thinking of actually leaving the city. Hmm... again, technically, I've probably left the city already today. It doesn't take much effort to leave this town.

Entirely Unrelated Public Service Announcement: If you're interested in [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar's One Card Draws, there is one planned for tonight from 6:30 PM to 8 PM Eastern Time.

Right then, time to get myself up and moving. Either that, or time for a nap. Either way, it's time to get out of this computer chair for a few hours.

Ooh, good! Now I'm wondering what you've listened to. He's been recording for more than a quarter-century, so there's a lot to choose from.

Of course me. If I recall, we met because at the time you and I were the only ones on LJ who listed Peter Himmelman among interests. (Mine change a lot.)
It seems the older he gets, the more he sounds like his father-in-law.

Actually, I believe that we met because you and I were the only ones who listed Ralph McTell as an interest. There are actually a fair number of matches for him these days, though--over a dozen!

You'll probably consider me a heretic for this, but I never did really get into recordings of Peter's father-in-law. My ears perk up when other people cover his songs, though.

You ever wonder if Peter wishes he'd married into another family, one where he didn't keep getting these comparisons? Not that he'd want to be married to another woman, surely, but maybe he wonders what reviewers might have said about his music if he'd married into a family of coal miners, or at least classical flautists or something.

I stand corrected. It was Ralph McTell.
Himmelman's Flown This Acid World is one of the songs on my personal sound track.
I wonder if, late at night, Peter's father-in-law wishes that he had become a classical flautist.
