My Technical Difficulties Are Freakier Than Your Technical Difficulties

The landline called the police this morning. Later, the landline called the power company. At this point there is no way of knowing who else the landline called, though I hope to find out.

Meanwhile, there's so much noise on the line that I couldn't make a call from home if my life depended on it.

A repair tech is scheduled to be at the house late this afternoon. I hope that will be enough to lay the ghost in the machine to rest.

Wait, your telephone spontaneously and of its own accord phoned the police and the power company?

You don't need a technician, you need an exorcist.

I was so freaked out yesterday that I couldn't even remember the word "exorcist." Fortunately, the problem was fixed this morning. I hope.

'Twas the phone line, not the phone itself, so it required a different kind of exorcist. He was a [checking his business card] "Cable Splicing Technician."

Ahh, I see.

Well, I still got an opportunity to whip out my holy relics.

Among other things, yes. Actually, it was the phone line and not the phone itself, but that may just be a technicality.

By the police showed up (a second time) at midnight last night, I was reduced to maniacal giggling.

I guess your landline wants you to be safe?

I dunno. The police showed up at the door (twice) and the power company called back, but I have to wonder who else my phone was calling without my permission. If some nasty-tempered person thinks I was making prank calls, things could get ugly..

Wow, that's freaky. I hope they get it sorted out for you.

I think the problem's fixed now. But I'm typing this from the public library because I'm still not entirely convinced!

Based on what i've seen at work and home over the past few days, i'm thinking there's some new bug/worm/gremlin going around.

But a phone line making random phone calls...? Yeah. That's a new one on me.

My radio decided to stop working again about the same time as the phone line decided to go undeniably haywire, so maybe there's something in the air.

But a phone line making random phone calls...? Yeah. That's a new one on me.

The repairman said he doesn't know what causes that sort of thing, but he once was working on someone's phone line when the police showed up saying they'd gotten calls from the number he was working on. It's not entirely unheard of, then. It's still freaky.

Your phone

My daughter's TV was talking to her for a while. Even when it was turned off and the switch it was on was turned off.

They unplugged the tv. It moved to her Walkman CD player.

Be glad its just your phone. :)

I used to have nightmares about not being able to turn off the television. ::shudder:: Before now, the weirdest things for me have been rare times when radios turned on spontaneously.

Be glad its just your phone. :)

Yeah, but you didn't have the police showing up at your door at 7:30 in the morning and then again at midnight, did you?

An old TV of mine used to spontaneously turn itself on. It really freaked me freak!

I noticed!

Midnight last night, after the police showed up for the second time, I was reduced to giggling insanely. I almost made a voice post so everyone could hear the giggling, but decided to spare you.
