Still here

Still here, just not knowing what to say. I've been thinking lots of thoughts, mind you, uncovering odd bits of self-knowledge here and there; but this being summer, those thoughts haven't been especially deep. Even so, many of them are not thoughts I'd wish to share with just anyone. In fact, I don't really want to share them with anyone whose existence I'm sure of. These are thoughts I might be willing to share with small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri, but only because small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri have no preconceptions about people. Small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri aren't going to listen to my thoughts and say, "Oh! So you're that kind of human, are you?" and pack me into some mental box they've been saving up for the occasion. Nope, small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri are just going to say, "Eh, Earthlings. You're all a bunch of weirdos anyway."

Not that I think my thoughts are anything special. That's the point. I'm quite normal in some ways; I just never knew before that I was this particular shade and hue of normal.

In other news: The sun is hot--and summer and I still don't get along. However, I have been re-reading Dune, which at least helps me to be grateful for the humidity. Maybe I'll re-read the rest of the series, which I don't think I've read through since high school.

Been trying to find good foods to eat that are nutritious, don't cost much, don't take long to prepare, and don't take much space in the shared refrigerator. What I really want is to have lots of salad ingredients around, but fresh greenery takes up so much space that could be devoted to, say, cheese. I have the feeling that I could be using more fridge space, and yet whenever I try, someone complains that that was their shelf. Sigh.

At some point, I'll probably have something to say. Won't be now, though, so may as well post.

Eww, boxes

I feel your pain on the whole "mental boxes" issue.

I'm becoming more and more cranky about people putting me into a box. Mental or otherwise. Sentient beings do NOT belong in boxes. Unless of course they ask nicely to be put in one, but that's different all together.

No boxes. Boxes bad.

The kicker is that if the subject of my contemplations were anyone other than me, I would be seriously tempted to put them into one of two or three boxes. I know myself well enough (I think) to know that I don't fit inside those boxes at all, but it could be so very tempting all the same.

Boxes are made for storing things, not people.

Remember I love you even if you are weird. ::hugs::

Also, much Harvey-purrs.

But but but I'm not that weird! Okay, to a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri, I'm very weird indeed. Heh.

::hugs::

Most Giants have a salad bar. As I recall, you're not too far away from there and if you play it right you can get one for a decent price and it's all fresh veggies.

While I do like Giant's salad bars, they're pretty expensive compared to the price of buying my own fresh ingredients & I don't live close enough to make walking there in the heat a really good option for days when I don't have much energy. I mean, part of the reason why I like salads is that they're cool and don't require me to stand at a hot stove, y'know? The salad bar's great for days when I'm already out that way & don't want to come home for lunch, though!
