Here's something you don't often hear me say in July: Yesterday was another in a string of beautiful days: not too hot, not too humid, sunshine during the day to bring clarity to a world of green, little fluffy clouds providing fuel for the fires of sunset.

Health note:
From e-mail this weekend:
Okay, I hope to be able to make it, but my neurology
at the moment is really beyond wonky. This, as I may
have mentioned, is the time of month when I always get
migraines. Well, at the moment, the Depakote seems to
be doing a good job of protecting me from the worst of
the headache pain; however, I am still experiencing
other symptoms which I have grown over the years to
associate with migraines. You remember how I seemed
Thanksgiving weekend, right? Today's been rather
weirder, and without the pain of severe headache
keeping me lying in bed with my eyes closed all day, I
am finally getting a chance to realize just exactly
how weird my weirdness is.
(I'm assuming this is not actually medication
side-effects since these issues didn't start when I
first began the medication, but started up when my
period did.)

If I'm better tomorrow, I'll be there. Otherwise,
I'll need to stay home for my own safety. I don't
feel the need to walk in a straight line, but managing
to stay roughly perpendicular to the surface I'm
walking on would be helpful.

I never did make it out to see people this weekend, though I did get out for a walk Sunday evening. Walked rather a good distance yesterday, which my body indicated was not the best of all possible ideas. Actually, my body is still complaining about yesterday's exertions, which is a bit of a problem as I had hoped to get some things done today before the Federal holiday kicks in. The medication seems to be doing a good job of keeping headache pain away, but gah! that's obviously not all that's going wrong at the moment. Well, I'm still on the starter dose. Either it will help more in the future, or I'll discover that Depakote has side effects remarkably like my own body's effects.

Quote of the moment:

There is no arriving on the living path of Wisdom. There is only this step, and this step, and this step. There is no perfection on Wisdom's path, there is only perfecting. One step is not superior to another other, only more thoughtful, compassionate, just, and wise.

With every step there is something to do. Large or small, complex or simple, each moment offers you an opportunity to act. Do what you can with each opportunity. Give when giving is what is required. Take when taking is what is appropriate. There is no right action for every step, only a right action at every step. Even if your path takes you into the realms of falsehood and chaos, you can act for Wisdom and order. It matters less where you step than it does what you do when you get there.

I have more to say. There is always more to say, but there aren't always words to say it with.

I can tell you that I want some Swiss cheese, but that fact really isn't very interesting at all.

For some reason, when I went out today, I did not buy any Swiss cheese. Something must be wrong with me.

Giant Penguins in The South? This is in accordance with the ancient prophesies, and does not scare me in the slightest. No, not one bit. No, ma'am. Not scary. Now, how do I get off this rock before the Great Old Ones get here?

Good time, though, to mention Bullockornis planei, the 8 foot tall 500lb carnivorous duck from miocene Australia.

Bullockornis, nicknamed the Demon Duck of Doom... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullockornis)

HAH!!!

(I had to look it up. The opening made my morning.)

Thank you for that, Darth. Today really was a good time to mention the Demon Duck of Doom!

::hug:: Hope the weirdnesses don't become too crippling for you. And giant penguins are awesome.

Honestly, I don't think the weirdnesses are really weirder than the weirdnesses I've had. It's just that I'm used to having the weirdnesses being accompanied by some nasty pain, so I don't generally try to do enough during those times to discover how weird the other weird things are.

Unless I really am suffering some odd side effects, which is still possible.

I'm not sure whether to be hopeful that it's normal weirdnesses or that it's side effects of the Depakote.

Well, Depakote at higher doses is supposed to help with a wide variety of seizure types, while at the dose I'm on it can help with migraines. So I'm hoping that my normal weirdnesses are something that the drug will be able to get under control later on, and that I'm not having any actual side effects now. We'll see.

In the meantime, I walked 5.5 miles today, so I must be feeling better. :-)

Is good to hear. (^*^)
