You know those days? It's one of those days.
This post is me whinging. Feel free to ignore--or point and laugh if you prefer.
It was bad enough that I had one of those nights when I couldn't keep my eyes open but was in too much pain to sleep restfully. (What is up with this whole burning skin thing anyway?) And you know those dreams where you dream that you wake up from dreaming? My dream-within-a-dream last night was a nightmare within a dream that pissed me off. Seriously, this, combined with the pain which hasn't had the decency to completely go away (though it's not quite as bad as when I went to bed), was more than enough to make me an unhappy camper when I woke up. Nothing more needed to added to it, honestly.
But when I got up, I couldn't get online. Oh, sometimes it would tell me there was a connection, but since I couldn't actually go anywhere it didn't really matter, did it? Kept trying to figure out the problem. Phone has a dial tone, no detectable noise on the line, tried several different numbers, rebooted, unplugged, disconnected each individual part and reconnected them, that sort of thing. Nothing worked, so I finally gave up and went to take a shower.
As I was showering, about to lather up my hair, the water spontaneously turned itself off. I turned it back on again, and it did stay on during the rest of the shower, but the plumbing taunted me, with water pressure occasionally going so low as to be useless for rinsing anything off.
Got out of the shower and tried getting back online again. I did, eventually, succeed in this, but my current connection speed makes those old 14.4 modems look like Speedy Gonzales by comparison. I don't know if I'm going to even try to look at the friends page now.
On the plus side, sometime during the night the housemate who had hidden all the household forks (except for a plastic one with bent tines) and plates (except for one pathetically fragile one which I finally broke yesterday, watching in amazement as it shattered into a myriad delicate splinters) brought them back to the kitchen and washed them all, so I managed to fix breakfast without a problem for a change.
Also, while the dreams last night didn't help my mood, I did get to meet another dream character with a distinct personality who doesn't exist in the real world. He wasn't particularly helpful, but he was friendly and encouraging and cheered me up briefly when I needed it. Sort of a trickster type, only one with an odd innocence about him. Baby Hermes stealing from the gods and pulling the Centaurs' tails, that sort of thing.
And again on the good side, we should have fairly warm weather today, which might be good for a walk as long as it doesn't rain too hard. Given how well the internet is not working for me at the moment, a walk might just be a good idea if I can ignore the pain for a while.

Sorry to hear about the pain, I hope it'll go away soon *hug*
On the good side — nice weather and a friendly dream character! :)

Somehow, I missed the entry about the housemate taking the forks and plates. How odd. Thank goodness he/she brought them back.
I hope you have a good walk and come home to a better internet connection. I hate it when I can't get online.

There weren't any entries about the forks and plates going missing. The loss of them was gradual, but grew very annoying! I think what happened is that one person who's been told not to leave dirty dishes in the sink for days on end decided it would be better to leave dirty dishes in their bedroom instead. It would be nice if we could convince such people that cleaning dishes is the best option!
Didn't do much walking at all yesterday. I spent pretty much the whole afternoon either talking to tech support or trying to figure things out on my own.
