Mid 1990s: A guy who was (if I remember correctly) in charge of the computer network at his job, telling me that the clocks on several of their PCs had to be turned off because the clocks had been incurably infected by the Good Times virus. Someone else who did rather a lot of her own work setting up computer systems for people--and finding ways of fixing their glitches and mistakes--shook her head and made sympathetic-sounding noises. I never did find out quite how much of her apparent sympathy for him was sincere.
