Sunny day, with bright blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70s. While the tree outside my window is still green, other trees have dropped enough leaves to create a spicy-scented brown carpet in the yard, on the sidewalk, in the street.

And me? I'm dizzy and sniffling and sleepy. When I breathe deeply, my left lung yells at me. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] lyssabard was probably right when she said you needed shots after using the privies at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Or maybe getting shots before using them would have been more helpful.

So anyway, I made some chicken soup today. Chicken thighs, because they happened to be on sale. If I were making this soup for someone else, I'd have removed the bones & skin after the bird was cooked, but since it's for myself I didn't worry about the aesthetics. (Besides, sometimes I like crunching on the bones.)
About half a large sweet potato, which turns out to be a little less than my ideal.
Some leftover onion, probably about 1/4 of a medium-large one.
Most of a red bell pepper.
One green jalapeƱo.
As many cloves of garlic as I was up to chopping. This turned out to be less garlic than I really wanted, but still a good amount.
A few leaves of fresh kale.
Salt & black pepper & more dried thyme than someone without a cold would probably want.
The above is roughly the order in which I put things in the pot. I think it's a tasty meal; but as my nose isn't working all that well at the moment, my tastes could be a bit off.

That was lunch and will probably be supper too. Aside from that, my only real plan for the rest of the day is rest. There is some stuff that really, really needs to be done--but my body's telling me pretty clearly that that stuff is going to have to wait. Here's hoping I'm feeling better by Friday at the latest.

In dreams last night, someone cursed my stuffed animals so they kept biting me. The white bunny a friend gave me one Easter was particularly vicious. Fortunately, the animals had no power of locomotion, so I was okay as long as I didn't get too close. A bunch of friends helped me get the toys to a safe place while we all tried to figure out how to lift the curse (I think we decided the critters needed to be cleaned. Especially that bunny).

Oh, it wasn't such a bad dream. A bunch of good friends were around to help out, plus a few people from long ago who I'd nearly forgotten showed up and gave decent advice. As long as I stayed away from the toy mouths, I was okay.

I've only got a few stuffed animals these days, usually kept on display on my bookcase. At the moment, though, they're all in the closet waiting to be cleaned. Maybe the dream was a sign that I really do need to do that cleaning!

That dream. My god, it's so bizarre that I wish I'd had it so I could tell my family and friends just to watch their reactions :-)

Oh, but why? Is there something terribly unusual about toys with fangs?

Heh. I wish I could remember more of last night's dreams--I don't think there were any stuffed animals biting people, but there was something interesting if only I could remember what it was.
