(no subject)

Had to go into DC yesterday for an annoying reason, which meant I had to cancel an appointment elsewhere because there was no way for me to do both. Bleah. The weather was lovely, a splendid example of early fall. I ended up walking quite a bit downtown, just for the fun of it, before going to Open Study in the evening. Not many people at OS, but all the cats let me pet them, and it was good.

So I'd gotten plenty of exercise during the day without a problem, right? And then when I got home and picked up the box of recyclable paper, I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my ribcage--a not-so-lovely reminder that cold 'n' flu 'n' bronchitis season is coming up. If I end up speaking Phlegmish again this year, I shall cry.

This morning it felt like Autumn was trying to convince us it was really Summer. Sure, it was warm & stuff, but the sky, the scents, and the early falling leaves ruined the whole act.

Someone gently pointed out to me today a way in which I have been an idiot, and suggested a way for me to avoid being that kind of idiot in the future. I appreciate this, much as I hate to admit when I've done something stupid, because one thing I hate more than admitting stupidity is being stupid without realizing it. And I also appreciate that the person didn't yell at me for the potential inconvenience to them, though, come to think of it, I'm not actually sure the person is capable of yelling anyway.

Since I was home tonight & not focusing on printed words very well, I watched the Smallville and Supernatural premieres. Fun! I think I almost understood half of what was going on, which isn't bad considering I hadn't watched SV since early last season & hadn't previously watched SPN at all.

Appointment rescheduled for tomorrow, so it's time for me to get to bed now. If only I can tear myself away from the music... (Many thanks again to the Doctor & Lyssa for sharing music with me!)

i don't think it matters whether we know what's going on with those shows. the imagery and colors and so on are so pleasurable.

btw, now that i'm officially Into SPN, i want to ask whether you think what i've read is correct: that it owes a lot to BtVS. i've still not seen a single ep of that show and may never get around to it. (the lead's not a pretty guy, ahem.) i find SPN much too creepy and gruesome, but i'm the one who watched The Fly for jeff goldblum and lived to regret it!

Well, keeping in mind I've only seen the one episode of SPN so far, I have to say I didn't think of Buffy at all when watching the show. A show involving demon-hunters is probably going to have something in common with BtVS no matter what, but I'd have to watch more of the show to know if the similarities are more than superficial.

BtVS didn't have a pretty male lead, but lots of attractive men did show up on the show. ;-)

say, james marsters was a guest on some SV episodes last season. i think he's odd-looking. well, anyone next to welling is going to look less-than. not that i'm biased or anything. :D
