Things you may or may not need to know

Because I have found reason to include this link in comments to many many LJ posts recently:
http://www.livejournal.com/settings/?tag=editor

If you do not understand why that link might be important, don't worry about it. If you do understand: you're welcome.

In other news: I was fully prepared to get out of the house very early this morning in order to do some very important things, but my plans were unfortunately delayed as I realized about thirty minutes after waking up that I was already suffering the effects of heat exhaustion.

In case you ever need to know any of this: Yes, hot, humid weather is my least-favorite weather of all. No, I do not have air-conditioning here at home. Yes, I think that Gatorade makes a wonderful summertime gift.

The cold front can't come through here soon enough.

I'm with you on the hot and humid. It makes it so hard to sleep at night.

Oh yes. We are supposed to get cooler weather soon. At least, I hope we still are, because I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Where was that link when I was going crazy last week trying to get rid of the 'rich text' option. I finally found it, but not until cursing lj for about 4 days.

I agree with you. Hot, humid weather is awful. Which is why I vacation in the south every summer. :/

Sorry I didn't give you that link before! Since it's not a problem I've had, it took me a while to notice that this link I'd seen might be helpful to a lot of people I know.

At least in the south air-conditioning is standard. We're far enough north here that landlords must provide heat, but A/C is optional. (I could use a window unit for my room, if I had the money for it. It's been a few years since I had the money to spare.)

I've never been to the northwest, but it sounds nice in that part of the country.

Fan still working, or is it time for another?

Fan still working! It's blowing air on me right now, for which I am still grateful to you. Unfortunately, the air is quite warm air.

No air-conditioning in hot, humid weather = Hell.

Drink plenty of water and/or fluids.

I'm getting plenty of fluids. I don't seem to be keeping up with the amount of liquid I'm losing as well as I'd like--very shaky & miserable most of the day today, even though the weather's cooler.

Ugh, I remember one summer growing up when our a/c broke. My parents didn't get it fixed for about a year! I would jump in the shower and rinse of in cold water periodically throughout the day. Also going somewhere that has a/c helps. I hope you're able to stay as cool as possible!

I would usually go somewhere with A/C, but I've woken up too sick from the heat to actually go anywhere. They say the first heat wave of the summer hits people the hardest, and I hope that's true because I do not want to feel this miserable during all the other heatwaves!

I really don't understand why people get so excited about hot weather. I mean, if you're too cold you can go put on a sweater or something and you'll be fine, but there's really nothing to do for being too hot except to sit around all sweaty and miserable.

I get the impression that most people who love hot weather love it because it's a good excuse to take off work, go to the beach, and work hard on developing their inevitable skin cancer. I could be wrong, though.
