Well, the robin nest was pretty obviously abandoned today. A blue jay investigated it briefly, then dismissed it as entirely uninteresting. A pair of doves flew to a thicker part of the same limb but paid no attention to the nest at all. Alas, poor robin.

I woke up this morning after a dream where I'd just been told that I owed $600 in library fines. This afternoon, I went to the library to return some books, and was both unsurprised and inexpressibly relieved to learn that of course I owed the system no money at all. At least it wasn't another one of those dreams where I grow extra digits or something. What would I do with seventeen fingers on one hand, anyway?

Too bad other government systems aren't as efficient as the library system. Grrr. Have I mentioned lately that I hate bureaucracy? 'Cos I really, really do hate bureaucracy. At the moment I mostly have to wait for other people to fill out forms, which is no fun when those other people aren't all that concerned about whether you eat at all next month.

On a happier note, the weather was sunny & pleasant, so I walked a bit in spite of being tired. I met someone along the way who made the day a little brighter. A beautiful tabby cat sitting on a front sidewalk mewed at me in a "Will you be my friend?" sort of way. We never touched each other, but we chatted happily for a while in our respective languages. (I was speaking English today. Since some of you have heard me meowing with other cats, I thought I should clarify.) The cat then decided to roll around in a pile of pollen & catkins as if it really needed to ensure that it was a big walking allergen.

It was a good walk, but I overtired myself again and ended up feeling kinda sick by the time I got home. Sleep would be a good idea now, if my stomach decided to be nice enough to allow it. If you're awake out there, wish me luck!

Good luck on getting some sleep tonight.

::observes a moment of silence for the robins and their loss::

Blue jays are such robber birds. They'll steal any thing from other birds.

Thank you. I did have decent luck sleeping last night--not a full eight hours, but more than I expected!

I like blue jays, but they can be obnoxious to other birds (and cats, dogs, squirrels, or foxes for that matter). This robin's nest has been visited by more crows than jays, though. Poor robin.

Oh boy howdy, I wish you luck. Sleep is a precious thing.

Thank you. I must have had good luck last night, because I did get more sleep than I expected to. That felt good for a change!
