Four Saturdays
Once you get out of the habit of communicating, it can be hard to begin again. There's so much to say that probably never will be said, because I can't remember how to let it outside, set it free to roam where it will.
Oh well. Weeks ago, there was a Saturday with Mad Science Coffee, which was probably the most fun I've had all month. Half a dozen of us for coffee (or other things sold at the coffee shop), slightly different half-dozen for dinner. About half the conversation at MSC was computer tech talk, which I found interesting even though I understood rather less of it than I'd like. Before we left the coffeeshop to find a restaurant, I felt sudden need to go to the used CD store next door. First CDs I've bought in 2010! Found 2 Sheila Chandra CDs from the '80s for $3.99 each! While I won't say I've wanted Out on My Own and Nada Brahma since they were new, I will say that I've wanted them since I learned of their existence when I was in college a few years later. (Looked at Sheila's website later to find out if there were any other albums released that I didn't know about. Answer: No, only one album I've never acquired in any format (though several I have only in non-digital forms), but she does have a book on reducing clutter, which amused me after I'd acquired those two things to clutter up my room.) That was a very enjoyable Saturday, well worth remembering.
Saturday after that: I don't remember a thing.
Third Saturday: I had to miss out on that week's MSC due to a migraine that threatened to overwhelm me. Managed to beat back the migraine by the end of the day, and did get a bit of reading done, so it wasn't a complete waste of a day.
Yesterday: Another migraine, which proved to be rather more resistant to my attempts to get it under control. Oh, I did manage to reduce the pain without resorting to prescription drugs, but in the end I wondered why I'd bothered since the only reason I avoid the prescriptions is that their side effects leave me dizzy and unable to think clearly. Even when the pain had receded, yesterday's migraine also left me dizzy and unable to think clearly. On the plus side, I eventually was able to walk upright long enough to go to the library and check out a few more books, CDs, and DVDs. There were tears streaming down my face as I walked, but perhaps those were indistinguishable from the sweat.
Yesterday's migraine was the type that can make you wonder, "Why do I even bother to go on? What's the point?" First answer that came to mind: "If I wait long enough, there will be peaches and cherry tomatoes and blackberries." Second answer: "As long as the butterfly lives, it still has a chance to flap its wings in the right place at the right time." Yes, that's right: This week's hopeful thoughts have been brought to you by a partnership of summer fruit and chaos theory.
(For the record, in case I don't get around to saying it later: Today has been a much, much better day than yesterday.)

we had fresh cherries tonight from safeway. not in the best shape, but so much nicer than something from a can.

I was tempted by cherries at Giant today! Didn't buy any, but I do love cherries. One of my favorite summer desserts is frozen cherries with hot fudge on top. :-)

Very glad today was better. I think summer fruit is part of "there is still much good in life," and the butterfly is "unknown good might happen that it would be a shame to miss." I know I've argued with myself using both approaches, now and then.

The thought of summer fruit also brought local farmers markets to mind, and I really do love farmers markets. It's too bad that hot summer weather and I don't get along!

Yay reading from you,
Been on the suckies side too, mine are full moon, overdoing, or random migraine (grrrr) related.
Also my spelling has been so off lately but I'm beginning to realize the neuropathy (confirmed) left hand is where most of the misspellings are coming from so it's read and re-read again.
Fresh fruit sounds sooo good.
JAX is too sprad out and the only "fresh markets" are the flea-markets which seem to have not so great produce.
How did you ever solve the chair problem? (I may have missed that update?

Fresh fruit is wonderful. Got fresh blueberries at the farmers market last week. :-)
Sorry to hear there aren't good markets near you. I'm really very lucky here--there are a couple clusters of farmers markets that are easy for me to get to as long as I'm not having a bad day health-wise. I wish getting fresh, local food from friendly farmers were as easy for everyone.
Chair problem: not solved. I still need to do something about that.

But yes...fresh fruit in the summer is a wonderful thing to look forward to. We saw a bunch of people while we were out and about today, selling watermelons from the back of their pick ups. I love seeing that every summer, brings back great memories :)
