Oh, wow. One of my friends from my knitting circle in Athens sent me a page of pictures of those knitted things, but didn't have any other information about them. I knit but don't crochet, but I'm kind of tempted to learn just to make some of that stuff. So awesomely wrong.

Eh, crochet isn't complicated enough to be interesting. I think that I essentially taught myself the basics trying to fix a problem on the afghan I'm knitting. All you're doing is making a chain of loops of yarn.
