Silly Psychics
Other people are posting their results to The Psi-Q Test, but I'd much rather post the questions. Should I use spoiler protection for quiz questions? Or do you think anyone who's significantly psychic should know what the questions are already? (I know, I know; it's a cheap shot. I have respect for my metaphysically-inclined friends, but not so much for authors of silly quizzes.)
Have you ever experienced a premonition or dream of the future?
Why yes, yes I have. The dream about the fiery destruction of Earth left me with a nasty migraine all day.
Have you ever been hospitalized for a long period (ie, more than one month)
I am happy to answer this with a big NO.
Do people surprise you?
All the time. Is that surprising?
Are you an optimist - do you normally expect things to work out for the best?
While trying to formulate a coherent answer to this question, I am left with an image of myself with blood under my fingernails from clawing at unforgiving rocks in an attempt to keep from falling down a cliff. What was the question again?
From a young age, you've been drawn to the unexplained and paranormal.
Yes. This explains my choice of friends.
Do you usually take an instant like/dislike of people you meet for the first time?
Not usually, but it has been known to happen.
Do you ever have a feeling that there is a presence or that someone or something behind the scene is helping you?
"Pay no attention to the little man behind the curtain!"
Sometimes I do get that feeling. Sometimes I even find out who the someone is.
Do ever feel like something bad is going to happen right before something bad *does* happen?
I am an extremely poor person with chronic illness. Lately, I am also something of a worrier. There is inevitably some overlap.
Are you gregarious (do you enjoy the company of other people?)
I am not gregarious, but I frequently enjoy company anyway. What, the quiz writer has a problem comprehending friendly introverts?
Have you ever found objects in a different location to where you placed them?
I have shared a house with as many as ten people at a time. I have also lived with cats. What do you think?
Do you accept the possibility that life exists elsewhere in the universe?
I think it's really bloody likely.
Are you a good mimic?
Meow!
Do you experience deja vu often?
Never.
Have you ever ignored a sudden urge to go somewhere or do something, and regreted it?
Very much yes.
Have you ever experienced deja vu, the feeling of "I have been here before"?
Haven't we had a deja vu question already?
Before you go off to sleep, do you ever see images of rooms, landscapes or other scenes?
Mm-hmm. I'm a big fan of hypnagogic states.
Have you noticed watches behaving strangely when you wear them (breaking frequently, losing or gaining time?)
In which alternate universe is losing or gaining time considered "behaving strangely"? Have these people never bothered to compare their computer clocks with reality?
Do you get on well with animals - do they respond well to you?
Meow?
Are you particularly good at finding things?
My Google-fu is strong. Finding things in the 3-D world? Not so much.
Have you ever seen a "UFO"?
Only in school cafeteria food fights.
Do electrical gadgets turn on or televisions change channel spontaneously in your presence?
No, except for that one time when the radio spontaneously turned on while the Beatles were singing "I Feel Fine."
You'll be thinking of someone and then run into them (or get a phone call from them) soon after.
Yes, but I usually do think of people when I am expecting to run into them or get a phone call from them.
Do bright lights bother you - car headlights, for example?
Hello, new migraine sufferer. Have you heard the word "photophobia" yet?
Do you consider that you are a good at games of chance?
No better than chance.
Have you ever had a dream come true later on?
I still have high hopes for the one about the fiery destruction of Earth.
Have you a good sense of direction?
HAHAHA no. Am better than I used to be, but that's not saying much.
Do you have significant mood changes for no apparent reason?
No, I can usually figure out the reasons for my moods.
You are usually right about people's characters and personalities, even if you only meet them for a minute.
Most of the time, I don't get a strong idea of a person's character when I first meet them. Sometimes I like or dislike a person instantly, but this feeling tends to be based on whether they remind me of someone else and so is best ignored. Once in a while, though, I do get an instant sense of whether to trust or distrust people. This instinct is one I have learned I had better trust.
In your dreams are you aware of being in a 3 dimensional environment?
Erm, yeah. What else would I be dreaming?
Do coincidences feature largely in your life?
Sometimes. Life is funny sometimes.
Have you ever felt that you've had a problem sorted by receiving a "message" from an unknown source?
Not that I recall.
When the phone rings, can you often predict who it is without looking at the caller ID?
The only phone with caller ID is the borrowed cell phone, and few people ever call that number. So yes, when I look at the caller ID, I'm frequently right.
Have you ever been surprised to discover you recognise the face of someone you have met for the first time?
No.
Have you ever experienced something happen in your life, good or otherwise, and you realised a higher purpose behind it.
Eh. Sometimes I indulge in something which may be more than wishful thinking, but "realised a higher purpose" is putting it a bit strongly.
Do you notice people being unusually clumsy in your company?
Yes, if by "people" you mean "me."
Do you believe that consciousness is inseperable from the body?
No.
Would you say that you have been lucky in your life so far?
I haven't been kicked out yet, which is fortunate. The fact that I can't afford to pay rent is not so fortunate.
Do you ever feel like you've been some place before, even though it's your first time visiting?
Do you ever feel like a quiz has too many questions related to deja vu?
Do you usually find the weather is in your favour?
Um. I usually pay attention to the weather forecast and make plans for the day based on that.
When you're lost, you're good at finding where you're going with just using your intuition.
HAhahaha. It's a very good thing I live in a town where it is hard to get lost.
Do you have a strong visual imagination?
Most of the time, yes. My imagination has been less creative than usual recently.
Would you describe yourself as a risk-taker?
You know, I have read that people who like to try out a wide variety of new foods tend toward other risky behaviors. But aside from a love of munching strange little fruits and octopi, no.
Have you noticed items like cutlery falling on the floor when you are around?
When last tested, my manual dexterity score was below the fifth percentile. What do you think?
Do you often dream in colour?
It amazes me that some people do not dream in color.
Are you able to predict what people will say next?
If they are predictable people.
Have you ever noticed unusual noises (creaks, bangs) in your presence?
I live in a house that is more than 70 years old. Those are not unusual noises.
Do you get a sense of history when you hold old objects?
I am not sure what a sense of history would feel like, so I'm thinking the answer is No.
As a child, did you ever have the experience of someone calling your name when no one else was around?
"Hypnagogic" and "hypnopompic" are two of my favorite words.
Do you believe in "love at first sight"?
I believe in a great many things at first sight. Some of those things may be mistaken for love.
Are you aware of being affected by the full moon?
Yes, if by "affected" you mean "compelled to stare up and say 'Ooh, pretty!'"
Have you ever experienced a premonition or dream of the future?
Why yes, yes I have. The dream about the fiery destruction of Earth left me with a nasty migraine all day.

Re: for your amusement
heh... obviously they've never heard me getting out of bed or going up and down stairs. or, well.. walking. or stretching. or.... yeah.
I just finished a course of antibiotics yesterday, and even though I've been eating yogurt with live & active cultures, there are still some pretty alien sounds coming from my body right now.
Oh, I remember knowing when one of the former housemates entered the house even before I could see him. This wasn't because of any psychic knowledge, but because his ankles made some really impressive noises when he walked.
hormones are a bitch. do you think that's what they meant?
Probably not, but it works for me! My cycle's longer than the moon's cycle, so I don't get to answer yes to that question even on those terms.
