Update

I was going to write a long, detailed yet witty entry about the last few days, but kept falling asleep instead. Let's blame the bronchitis, shall we? Anyway, what pops to mind when I think about the weekend: Saturday: Got three prescriptions filled, was told that three would be in the store today and another one is due in this coming Thursday. Fortunately, they had the most important ones: antibiotics and prescription-strength ibuprofen. While waiting for the 'scripts to be filled, I went for a longish walk to check out the grocery store for which I had been given some gift certificates. Wandered the aisles a bit, spent 50 cents on a chocolate pie while thinking about coming back some other day for my grocery order, then walked back to the other store by the shorter route I should have taken in the first place. Got my drugs, decided it was a good time for grocery shopping after all, and walked yet again to the distant grocery store, this time taking a route which violated several laws of man and nature. Utilized my elite shopping skills to spend all but 13 cents of the value on a $20 certificate, hoping that a twenty-dollar grocery order would be easy to carry all the way home when the bags included seven dollars' worth of tea. Did survive the walk home, but after walking an estimated zillion miles that day, it seemed a good idea to take the bus next time.

Sunday: Coughing, coughing, and more coughing. My coughs sound like what I think of as wheezing little old man coughs, which makes me wonder what I think a 36-year-old woman coughing is supposed to sound like. Does anyone with bronchitis have a musical tone or satisfying timbre as they hack up a lung? Aside from the coughing, I finally managed to place an order with a drugstore.com gift certificate, and I feel obligated to tell you all that the website was frustrating, maddening, infuriating for both giver and receiver, so you may want to stick with your local drugstore and give the site a miss. Coughing and trying to place the order took up pretty much my whole day. Well, that and playing with kaleidoscopes.

Monday: Woke up early enough to (in theory) get out of the house in time to do stuff, but it didn't really do me any good. Tomorrow, then. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. My tale may be told by an idiot, but I haven't yet the energy for much sound or fury.

Antibiotics are usually pretty good on bronchitis... I'm sure you have your own remedies but as I used to get it every year as a kid, my own methods include a hot orange drink every day (juice of 1 squeezed orange, top up with boiling water, add spoonful honey & mix in soluble aspirin or paracatomol if you can take them), menthol & eucalyptus oil on a bit of kitchen paper overnight to keep phlegm moving, and also a hot water bottle on the chest can be soothing. Oh and drink lots of water, Dr Hobbit always advises that one :>

Remind me of your email addy for that then and I'll get right on it *hugs*

This is only the third winter in a row that I've gotten bronchitis--but really, three times is more than enough! At least so far I'm breathing pretty well. There aren't enough oranges in the house for me to fix myself a hot orange drink every day, alas... but I really should make myself some nice cranberry sauce since I bought extra fruit on Saturday. Mmm... cranberries.

Yes, drinking lots of water is something Dr. Hobbit and my own doctor agree on. :-) That's one reason I bought so much tea & herbal tea on the weekend--it's much easier to convince myself to drink hot, flavored water than plain, cold water this time of year!

Its nasty stuff, I'm pretty run down most of the time but touchwood I've not had it for a few years, I think the OJ regimen every morning whether i'm sick of not helps... oj from a carton would probably be as good, but anything with vitamin C is good, preferably warmed as that seems more soothing.

Herbal tea is good for you.. always makes me pee too much whatever the variety mind!

Aha, thanks. Will make a note of that this time then I don't have to keep bugging you for it :)

Ack! I should have mentioned earlier--I have a personal account, so can't take credit card payments!

Oh, one of the teas I bought is an herbal one with vitamin C in it. Not as good as orange juice, I'm sure, but it seemed like a good choice anyway!
