(no subject)

For the last three days, I've had an off-and-on headache, which is not terribly unusual. For the past couple days I've had quite the sore throat, which I blamed on ragweed pollen. Yesterday there was much dizziness and stomach unhappiness, which often goes along with my migraine headaches. Today's weather is much warmer than usual and I am sitting here shivering with cold.

Ah. So it's that kind of oogieness after all.

[livejournal.com profile] unwilly the Virus Vector is all the way out in California. Can I blame him for this anyway? (Just kidding, Un! I'll blame gremlins instead.)

Go ahead, I always blame my sicknesses on him. He transmitted it to you digitally. :-P

Seriously, I hope you feel better soon! You're third person I know who is sick right now (3 people in 3 different states) So maybe this thing is widespread. Drink tea with butter in it, get lots of rest ... eat chicken soup! ::hugs::

Tea with butter? First I'd have to buy some butter, and I'm not convinced it's worth the walk. Chicken soup might work, though, since I bought a can recently.

I keep hoping I'm wrong, this isn't a virus, it's just migraine and allergies that will be all better tomorrow. There's too much stuff I want to do this week, dang it!

::hugs back::

Yeah that is something I picked up from Fadi. Whenever he was sick his mother would fix him a cup of tea with milk and honey and put a pat of butter in it. It does seem to help a soar throat, I think because it coats. But if you would have to walk to get it it's definitely not worth it! Have the soup, some regular tea if you've got it (and chamile with honey is even better) and sleep sleep sleep. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Actually I have the feeling I won't be getting much sleep tonight. Here's hoping that the latest ickiness will pass quickly anyway.

HeY!

What exactly does the butter do? I know a number of other hot drinks have butter in them, but it tends to be for flavor.

I'm not sure exactly what it does, but it's something we picked up from Fadi's mother (who is chock full of little home remedies - some effective, some silly). It does add a nice taste, but I've noticed it is soothing for a sore throat. Oh! And I just remembered another one, to help a sick tummy drink mint tea. Especially if you have a tea strainer and dried mint flakes or leaves. :-)

Maybe it coats the throat, soothing sore throat, and helping to retain the heat of the tea to further sooth the area.

Don' wanna rest! I wanna do stuff!

::pout::

Blame Un and hope you get over it soon.

definitely blame Un. If they can 'transport' a photon I am SURE Un can 'transport' disease. He has his "Un" Intelligence working towards his evil deeds. I'm going back on anti-biotic.

Nah, I don't think I'll blame Un for this one after all. There are plenty of other people and things I can blame that aren't so far away from here!
