Nifty Things
Sure, with this headache and general oogieness keeping me from getting out and visiting with people tonight, I could find things to complain about even if it weren't for certain other stress-inducing things. But there is niftiness in the world and I'd rather discuss that now:
Gacked from comments on a locked post in someone else's journal: Gmaps Pedometer. Based on Google Maps, on this nifty page you can click places you go, and the pedometer will connect the dots, telling you the straight-line distance between two points as well as the distance of your whole route. Playing with it, I've discovered that while my estimate of how far I've walked is often pretty accurate, there are places where I fail to take certain things into account. The size of a shopping mall, for instance. My walk today, which I'd have guesstimated as being about a mile & a half, is, according to the site, 2.6169955749938882 miles. While I don't quite believe all those decimal points, it's nice to have some reassurance that I haven't been a complete lump today.
Nifty thing two: Kiwi fruits are still tasty! Alternating between sections of gold kiwi fruit and green kiwi fruit makes the contrast in flavors so much more obvious (the gold really tasted lemony tonight). Yummy.
More niftiness: Y'all know by now that I love Launchcast. But when mailing list people from some other countries complained that they couldn't listen to American versions of Launch stations anymore, being forced to listen to the version from their own region, (each regional/national version having its own agreements and disagreements with record labels means that some subgenres may be seriously lacking in certain places), I for some reason figured that we Americans wouldn't be able to listen to the furriners' stations anymore. Silly of me, I know.
So today I've been enjoying Emisora de Flamenco and Deutschland rockt! Radiostation. Flamenco does have subgenres. And Germans can be such goths--which works out well since the original Goths were Germanic anyway.
Last but most, my friends and many friendly acquaintances are genuinely nifty and spiffy and several other cute complimentary terms. I can't say enough about you all! I only wish I could show my appreciation to each and every one of you the way you deserve.

German music is hilarious. That was one of the high points of taking German as my language, getting to listen to their crazy pop music.

I'm thinking of listening to the German hip-hop station, but I'm scared at the same time.
