A few good things

Air conditioning at the public library still works almost well enough for me to forget how hot it is outside. The few hours spent there today did not stop the spread of this obnoxious heat rash, but a little A/C is better than no A/C at all.

When I thought that there was a strong possibility of a bureaucratic foulup meaning no Medicaid after the end of this month, I was wrong. Oh, there's still a chance of foulup (this is bureaucracy we're talking about, after all), but the timing is such that I'll have coverage until at least the end of next month. It's nice to lose a reason for panic.

I'm still enjoying the summer repeats of House, M.D. Though I can't tolerate watching TV for hours on end anymore, it's good for me to have one or two shows to follow with interest. While I kinda liked the episodes I've seen of The Inside, that series is (A) filled with more pessimism than I really need to deal with in my life these days, and (B) cancelled anyway. So, it's good to have one TV show to look forward to each week!

Canned beans are on sale cheap.

On the way home from the grocery store this evening, I saw a group of raccoons on top of a house. I'd been standing there watching them for a while before I realized that an older man was sitting on the front porch of that house wondering why I had stopped to look in that direction. It didn't seem necessary for me to inform him that there was a quartet of playful predators on his roof, so I said hello, watched the fuzzy beasts a bit more, then waved goodbye.

We have raccoons, but I've never seen them on top of a house. I guess, being the climbers that they are, it shouldn't surprise me.

My room is on the top story, with a bit of roof over the floor below stretching out under my windows. A few years ago there was a night when I heard a tap at the glass. I got out my flashlight and shined it on a raccoon, who visited me once in a while after that. :-) It might have been more fun for me if he hadn't usually gotten my attention when I was trying to sleep, but that's what happens when you're dealing with nocturnal beasts.

I've also seen a raccoon on the roof of the house next door in the daytime. That one seemed to have a sleeping place under the eaves there: the raccoon could be seen stretching out on the roof for a few minutes in the daytime, looking around at the world a bit, then going back into its hole, invisible except for a striped tail dangling down.

Last night was the first time I'd seen more than one raccoon at a time, though. It's funny how cute a gang of predators can be!

Sympathies on all, definitely including the heat and the heat rash. I scaned your LJ and can't see where it is or anything else about it. Howver, I thought I'd still mention that when I have had to do without my beloved air-conditioning, I can tend to heat rash around my bra; and as the friend without AC wqhose house I was staying in advised me, putting anti-persperant all around that area did decrease or eliminate that heat rash. Libraries are good things anyway! *hugs*

I haven't mentioned where the rash is, but it did start just under the braline. Unfortunately, it spread pretty rapidly, so now I've got red spots pretty much from a little below the collarbone down to the waist, plus, for some reason, inside my left elbow. I can also feel irritated bumps on my upper back, though I can't see them.

Libraries are wonderful places! Was too tired to make it there today, so here's hoping I can get there tomorrow.
