It was one of those cold and rainy mornings you get in November, when the dark and the chill convince you that the best way to spend the day is to sit at home sipping hot beverages and ignoring the world outside. Well, I had an appointment today, and I was feeling well enough that I chose to go to it. A little voice inside my head told me that it might be a good idea to call the office and find out whether or not the person I was meeting was going to be there, but I told the little voice it was being paranoid. One of these days I'll learn to listen to that little voice, honest.
So the person I was supposed to meet wasn't there and couldn't be hailed on the cell phone, and I gave up reading the waiting room magazines forty minutes after the scheduled appointment. On the plus side, I did have other things I could do while I was in that neighborhood, and I got some useful forms filled out while I was out there. Also in the good category is that bright city lights were invented to cheer up gloomy days like today, thus making it a good time to be in the urban suburb I happened to be in.
And on the very good side: I now have my first Holiday Mint M&Ms of the season. Yes!
After getting home, had a good conversation with a family friend; mostly a fun talk, but I did learn some interesting things about my mother's side of the family.
Anyway, though I had other things I've considered writing about, I shall leave you with two links instead.
Interview with Benoit Mandelbrot: A Fractal Life.
And on an entirely different note: The Joy of Sexual Physics.
