That's some impressive avoidance I've got going on.

This afternoon I was going to go for a short walk, just buy some chocolate and then come home to make phone calls. Didn't want to make phone calls, of course, but they have to be made. So, I managed to successfully buy the chocolate, and then I walked a little way, figuring I'd finish up the candy while soaking up some sunshine, and then I'd come home and make those pesky phone calls.

I got lost.

You have to understand something here. The way this neighborhood and its neighboring, erm, neighborhoods are set up, you can't get lost if you know the system. You can get yourself turned around in the wrong direction, of course, and you can end up having to go out of your way to avoid a dead-end street. But it's only the people who don't actually live around here or pay attention to the street layout who'll get lost.

And I found myself in an unfamiliar neighborhood not knowing which direction to go. This didn't last long, but it happened. All I can think is that my subconscious mind had better have a really excellent reason for putting stuff off till tomorrow, because subconscious avoidance of something is the only explanation I have for today's adventure. Also, I have a feeling I won't be going to physical therapy tomorrow, 'cos that was some impressively long little meander I took today.

On the plus side, my wanderings yesterday and today should have been enough to burn all my junk food calories for a week.

I envy you a little bit.

I spent two hours on the phone to the government, waiting for someone to pick up, before I got disconnected. It's becoming a ritual now. Twice a week. More than that and I don't know if I could stand it. Of course, I couldn't leave the house, nor can I leave it while doing touch-up, so there's been no walk.

Trade you a piece of your walk for a piece of my productiveness... (not the phone-call productiveness; the touch-up. Although you could apply it to phone calls if you want.)

Yes, I'd love to have some of your productiveness! There's been plenty of walking lately, so a day of non-walking is probably a good idea anyway. Can you go for a nice long walk tomorrow?

Yes. Anything but touchup! And my body has been protesting this weird insistence of mine to spend 8-10 hours per day sitting in a chair for at least a week.

I'd ask if you can do touchup, but that probably wouldn't help. (Although it'd get your name in the credits. *smile*)

Your subconscious has an excellent work ethic!

It really does! Used to be that avoidance consisted of sitting at the computer futzing around, but now my subconscious has to be getting me out and exploring. Could be worse.

I really hope I can get something useful done tomorrow, though.
