Woo!

Woke up early and angry, with some plans to write about anger in general and my current anger in particular, its reasons for being and when it is or isn't justified. Then I thought maybe I should try going back to sleep instead of fueling the fires, so I started fiddling with the alarm on my clock radio--and the FM/AM/LW/Shortwave radio which hasn't actually received signals in over a year (two years?) suddenly started working again!

I am so not going back to sleep now. But now that I have the chance (and no way of knowing how long the radio will behave itself), should I listen to Radio Australia or WRNR? Decisions, decisions...

Have you heard about the "Numbers" broadcasts? There are some good examples at Archive.org . . .

Yep! Though I haven't listened to any of the samples online, I've heard plenty of numbers broadcasts over the years (I was an avid shortwave listener from the mid-'80s till a couple of years ago). Didn't know for sure what they were for until someone mentioned the Conet project a while back, but I'd guessed their purpose before then.
