Ohhhhhh yes

With my health situation as unpredictable as it is, there are many times when the weather is nice and I wish I could be out walking but simply don't have the energy to crawl out of the house. This kind of frustration has gotten worse in the last few months, with severe fatigue severely cramping my style.

So it is with gratitude that I announce to you that on this most gorgeous day of the summer, I walked more than 6 (six!) miles. Not sure how far I did walk, exactly, since there's a loop I've deliberately not bothered to figure out the distance of for fear that if I knew how far I'd have to walk to complete it, I'd be too scared to try. All I know for sure is that that loop is more than two miles--possibly much more--and I had a total of another four miles from shorter walks earlier in the day.

Talked to a 90-year-old lady today who was proud of the fact that she's still able to drive. I was a little sad for a moment since my visual weirdnesses mean I may never be behind the wheel. Then I thought, hey, even though she seems quite healthy and active, I bet that woman didn't walk as much as I did today!

Taxi driver tried to pick me up. I couldn't tell if he was hoping to get a fare or a date.

The blisters on my feet are complaining rather a lot. My body is going to hate me tomorrow. But today? Today was a good day.

I read. . .

I read somewhere that Germans like to get all suited up in suspenders and boots and walk all day-- I bet your outfit was a little more fitting, though, to your surrounds. . . but there is a word in German for what you did today, and I can't remember it. . .

Yes, I think I was a little more normally dressed for an American! Wasn't really walking all day--there was quite a lot of downtime where I was recovering here at home. But a little tiredness is a remarkably small price to pay for the fun of walking again.

At least you're able to get out and about recently.
Just stay away from banks, eh?

It was so great to be out moving yesterday! Till then I hadn't been able to walk much at all, between the fatigue and the shoe problems. I hope I start feeling that well on a regular basis!

Eh, I'll be happy when the recent DC area bank robbers are all caught. In the meantime, my routine probably will be affected even less than it was by the sniper shootings.

Hope you do, too.

I'm extremely glad to hear that. It's amazing what a good walk can do to you, right?

Yeah. It was so great to get out and enjoy the day that way!

I think I'll spend today inside the house though. My feet weren't as happy about the walk as I was. Heh.

Yay for good days, then!

Taxi driver tried to pick me up.

Yeah, I thought of the taxi-aspect second, and the romantic aspect first. Heh.

Well, he did seem like a man interested in getting to know me better, but the fact that he was sitting in his cab at the time made me think of the fare aspect first--just barely first, but first!
