Brief update
After drinking lots & lots of orange-strawberry-banana juice, I started to feel more like a human being again (thus supporting my hypothesis that potassium deficiency was a big part of my problem). By Friday morning, I finally could concentrate well enough to read for sustained periods of time, so I took advantage of the fact this weekend by immersing myself in some of the local library's collections of SF short stories. I'm not back to normal yet (not even what passes for my normal), but I'm doing noticeably better than I was.
So now I'm online again for the first time since Thursday night. While I was gone, some of you had Drama. I'm thinking of rewriting it as a space opera.

Do it. :^)
Glad to hear you might have figured out some of the problem, too.

Yes, I'm pleased that I haven't felt very close to passing out today. Still not my usual self, but better than last week.

Glad to hear you are doing better though!

Were the books good?
I managed to finish a Peter David one, Sir Apropos of Nothing. Decent, and really picked up at the end.

but i have found that even just a banana a day, or some such, helps. one of the "tests" to see how my level is that the docs use (and now i use myself) is having me hold my hand up, palm out, fingers extended. the lower my potassium level, the more my fingers (particularly the ring finger, actually) will shake.
i occasionally find myself thinking "am i having a panic attack?" *glances at hand* "no, i just need potassium." because it screws with me so bad.
i only half expect this make any sense. i have a cold.
