::blink::

Ever since I moved here, I've known it's truly springtime when the ice cream truck starts to come around, playing "It's a Small World" over and over and over again all the while the weather is warm. Sometimes in recent years there's been relief from the Disney tune in the form of "Popeye the Sailor Man" or some other kiddie classic. Today, however, the ice cream truck has been playing a much wider variety of tunes than usual. What gets me is that the melodies have included "Silent Night," "Joy to the World," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," and "Adeste Fideles."

Should I be writing out my Christmas list now?

I dunno, but Saga Christmas is coming up soon (assuming I'll start writing again)... so... may as well make it a theme.

I need to get back to reading Saga again! Unfortunately, my body hates me and doesn't like me sitting at the computer all that long nowadays. Argh. Maybe I should confer with my doctor about possibilities for other drugs that may be able to keep me from losing circulation in my legs as I sit here... "You don't understand, Dr. C! I need to read Saga! It's urgent!" I'm sure if I explained to her, she'd understand.

When I run into that problem, I stand up. And do stretches. And housework. Yeah, it makes reading (nevermind typing!) take longer, but I'm not exactly on a tight deadline.

Unfortunately, a much bigger and more serious problem is what typing does to my hands. Oh, how I suffer for my art! Or at least, how I will suffer for my art as soon as I pick it back up again. Drawing isn't as bad, except when I have to reach around the cat to get to my sketchbook. I guess loneliness hurts her more than being poked repeatedly with a pencil.

Anyway, that was about me, not about you. All I can say about you is i really really hope things improve...

Yeah, walking around & doing stretches are the best idea. I just hate all the hassle (and modem noise) of repeatedly getting offline & back online.

Eh, I'll find a way to read more Saga soon. Do you know why typing hurts your hands so much? I find that magnesium supplements help keep my hands (& muscles elsewhere) from hurting and cramping so much, but that's me.

Oh, I just leave my computer online. I suppose I shouldn't, having dialup and all, but very rarely does anybody good call in the middle of the day. All the good people are just as inclined to email or IM me. (Wow, I have staggering amounts of freedom! Go me!)

I don't know what to say about Saga. Hey! You should get one of those programs that reads text aloud! And program it to do each character's voice, and... okay, that's a pipe dream. But it'd be really cool.

Magnesium might be worth a try. I have repetitive stress injuries, exacerbated by some undiagnosed problem with my circulation (or something). Dancing is by far the most effective thing for it that I've found so far. Drumming probably helps considerably less.
